Encore cette année, nous avons eu le privilège d’assister à la soirée vernissage des finissants à la maîtrise de l’École d'architecture de l'Université Laval.

Lors de cette soirée, Anabel Beaulieu, architecte associée, ainsi que Farah Benaddi, candidate à la profession d’architecte chez LemayMichaud, ont eu le plaisir de remettre notre bourse de la Maîtrise en composition architecturale à Yasmine Alami pour son projet de fin d’études intitulé « Paysages habités ».

Le projet de Yasmine explore avec sensibilité la manière dont l’architecture peut accompagner des modes de vie en transformation, tout en préservant des savoir-faire et des pratiques culturelles vivantes. Par une approche sobre, ancrée et profondément humaine, il propose une architecture attentive aux usages, au paysage et au passage du temps.

Félicitations à Yasmine, ainsi qu’à l’ensemble des diplômés, pour la qualité et la richesse de vos réflexions et de vos projets. Nous vous souhaitons beaucoup de succès pour la suite de votre parcours!

Once again this year, we had the privilege of attending the graduate exhibition for the master’s students at the École d'architecture de l'Université Laval.

During the event, Anabel Beaulieu, Partner and Architect, along with Farah Benaddi, Intern Architect at LemayMichaud, had the pleasure of presenting our Award for Excellence in Architectural Composition to Yasmine Alami for her final project entitled “Paysages habités”.

Yasmine’s project thoughtfully explores how architecture can support evolving ways of living while preserving living cultural practices and traditional know-how. Through a restrained, grounded, and deeply human approach, the project proposes an architecture that is attentive to use, landscape, and the passage of time.

Congratulations to Yasmine, as well as to all graduates, for the quality and depth of your reflections and projects. Wishing you every success in what comes next.

6H En Cœur ❤️

Ce samedi, nos collègues ont pris part à l’événement 6H En Cœur dans le but d’amasser des fonds pour la Fondation En Coeur, qui soutient les enfants et les familles touchés par des maladies cardiaques.

Portés par l’énergie de l’événement et l’esprit d’équipe, nos collègues ont parcouru un impressionnant total de 200 km en relais tout au long de la journée! Grâce à la mobilisation des participants et des partenaires, plus de 440 000$ ont été amassés pour la fondation.

Au-delà du défi sportif, cette journée était surtout une belle occasion de se rassembler autour d’une cause humaine et inspirante. Bravo à tous ceux et celles qui ont participé de près ou de loin à cette belle réussite!

This Saturday, our colleagues took part in the 6H En Cœur event to raise funds for the Fondation En Coeur, which supports children and families affected by heart conditions.

Driven by the energy of the event and strong team spirit, our colleagues collectively covered an impressive 200 km in relay throughout the day! Thanks to the commitment of participants and partners, more than $440,000 was raised for the foundation.

Beyond the athletic challenge, the day was above all a meaningful opportunity to come together in support of a human and inspiring cause. Congratulations to everyone who contributed, directly or indirectly, to this wonderful achievement!

JOY Wellness Club prend place dans l’ancien Holt Renfrew du centre-ville de Montreal, un bâtiment Art déco emblématique que le projet choisit de révéler plutôt que de transformer.

Dans un environnement urbain dense et en constante effervescence, le projet propose un lieu de pause, de ralentissement et de déconnexion, où l’expérience du bien-être s’ancre directement dans le caractère du bâtiment existant.

L’intervention repose sur une approche fondamentale : considérer l’existant comme la matière première du projet. La structure apparente, les volumes monumentaux et les traces du temps deviennent les principaux éléments de l’expérience, transformant l’ancien grand magasin en un environnement centré sur la matérialité, la lumière et la monumentalité des espaces.

Inspiré des anciens bains publics, le JOY Wellness Club propose un parcours où alternent chaleur, froid, repos et mouvement. Sauna sec, bains froids, grand bain chaud, thérapie infrarouge, gym et espaces de détente composent une expérience contemplative favorisant un véritable retrait du rythme de la ville.

La matérialité sobre et intemporelle, dominée par la brique bourgogne, dialogue avec la rugosité du bâtiment existant afin de mettre en valeur l’héritage Art déco du lieu.

JOY Wellness Club is located in the former Holt Renfrew in downtown Montreal, an iconic Art Deco building that the project seeks to reveal rather than transform.

Within a dense and constantly vibrant urban environment, the project offers a place for pause, slowing down, and disconnection, where the wellness experience is directly rooted in the character of the existing building.

The intervention is based on a fundamental approach: treating the existing structure as the project’s primary material. The exposed structure, monumental volumes, and traces of time become the main elements of the experience, transforming the former department store into an environment focused on materiality, light, and the monumentality of space.

Inspired by traditional public bathhouses, JOY Wellness Club offers a journey where heat, cold, rest, and movement alternate. Dry sauna, cold baths, a large hot pool, infrared therapy, a gym, and relaxation spaces create a contemplative experience that encourages a true retreat from the pace of the city.

The restrained and timeless material palette, dominated by burgundy brick, engages in dialogue with the rawness of the existing building in order to highlight the site’s Art Deco heritage.

Le 13 mai dernier, nous avons eu le plaisir d’assister à la soirée vernissage de l’exposition des finissants en technologie de l’architecture du Cégep de Lévis.

Plusieurs de nos collègues étaient sur place afin de souligner cette étape importante dans le parcours des étudiants. Alexandre Lavoie, technologue au sein de la firme, et Anabel Beaulieu, architecte associée, ont également eu le plaisir de remettre une bourse à Maël Dagorn et Maxime Jacques, soulignant l’excellence de la maîtrise technique de leur projet de fin d’études.

Le projet s’est distingué par sa qualité professionnelle, sa clarté, sa précision et la qualité remarquable de son rendu.

Félicitations à Maël et Maxime, ainsi qu’à l’ensemble des étudiants finissants pour leur parcours et ces réalisations inspirantes.

On May 13, we had the pleasure of attending the vernissage of the graduating students’ exhibition in Architectural Technology at Cégep de Lévis.

Several of our colleagues were on site to acknowledge this important milestone in the students’ journey. Alexandre Lavoie, technologist at the firm, and Anabel Beaulieu, were also pleased to present a scholarship to Maël Dagorn and Maxime Jacques, recognizing the excellence of the technical mastery in their final-year project.

The project stood out for its professional quality, clarity, precision, and outstanding rendering.

Le 5 mai dernier, notre collègue Catherine Marcoux participait à la Journée AV Montréal 2026 à titre de conférencière, où elle a présenté une conférence portant sur l’analyse fonctionnelle.

Un moment riche en échanges, au cours duquel elle a partagé son expertise sur cette étape clé des études préliminaires, essentielle pour définir avec précision les besoins, les fonctions et les paramètres d’un projet.

À travers son approche rigoureuse, Catherine a su illustrer comment structurer des projets complexes et solides, tout en alimentant la réflexion sur leurs dimensions fonctionnelles, économiques, sociales et environnementales.

On May 5, our colleague Catherine Marcoux took part in the AV Montréal 2026 Conference Day as a speaker, where she delivered a presentation on functional analysis.

It was a valuable opportunity for discussion and knowledge sharing, during which she highlighted the importance of this key stage in preliminary studies to clearly define a project’s needs, functions and parameters.

Through her rigorous approach, Catherine demonstrated how functional analysis can help structure complex and robust projects, while also fostering reflection on their functional, economic, social and environmental dimensions.

C’est officiel : Alo Ste-Foy entre en chantier!

Nous sommes fiers de voir se concrétiser le projet Alo Ste-Foy, un complexe multirésidentiel de 18 étages comprenant 309 unités locatives, situé au cœur du pôle d’échanges de Sainte-Foy et porté par Immostar et iA Groupe financier.

Développé dans le cadre des projets du boulevard Hochelaga et du projet de loi 31, il s’inscrit dans une vision de densification urbaine durable. Le projet vise la certification LEED, témoignant d’une volonté forte d’intégrer des pratiques de conception et de construction responsables.

Pensé comme un milieu de vie connecté et ancré dans la réalité urbaine actuelle, Alo Ste-Foy transforme un ancien site de stationnement en un environnement habité et tourné vers l’avenir. Sa localisation stratégique, à proximité du futur tramway et des réseaux de transport collectif, en fait un lieu hautement accessible.

Le bâtiment propose des espaces communs pensés pour soutenir la vie quotidienne des résidents, avec des lieux propices à la détente, au travail et aux échanges, en phase avec les nouveaux modes de vie. Une terrasse commune végétalisée ainsi qu’une toiture du basilaire verdoyante viennent enrichir l’expérience des occupants.

Une belle étape franchie hier avec la première pelletée de terre, marquant le début concret de ce grand projet.

La livraison des premières unités est prévue pour juin 2028.

It’s official: Alo Ste-Foy is now under construction!

We are proud to see the Alo Ste-Foy project come to life, an 18-storey multi-residential development comprising 309 rental units, located at the heart of the Sainte-Foy transit hub and developed by Immostar and iA Groupe financier.

Developed as part of the Hochelaga Boulevard real estate initiatives and the Bill 31 framework, the project is aligned with a vision of sustainable urban densification. It is also targeting LEED certification, reflecting a strong commitment to responsible design and construction practices.

Designed as a connected, future-oriented urban living environment, Alo Ste-Foy transforms a former surface parking lot into a vibrant residential setting. Its strategic location, adjacent to the future Québec City tramway and transit networks, ensures exceptional accessibility.

The building features shared amenities designed to enhance daily living, offering spaces for relaxation, work, and social interaction in step with evolving lifestyles. A landscaped communal terrace and a green roof at the podium level further enrich the resident experience.

A significant milestone was reached yesterday with the official groundbreaking, marking the concrete start of this landmark project.

First units are scheduled for delivery in June 2028.

Retour en images sur une rencontre inspirante!

Vendredi dernier, le Salon Joséphine accueillait une discussion sur le Royalmount et la conception de ce grand projet dans le cadre de la Semaine de Design de Montréal.

À cette occasion, Anne-Marie Bouliane, architecte associée chez LemayMichaud, était invitée à échanger sur le sujet aux côtés d’Ana Borrallo de Borrallo Design, Eve Larochelle de Carbonleo et Claire Tousignant de MASSIVart.

Un moment particulièrement agréable, marqué par des échanges riches et ouverts. On sentait une réelle envie de partager, de réfléchir ensemble et de plonger dans les intentions derrière un projet comme le Royalmount, dans une ambiance à la fois conviviale et inspirante.

L’événement s’est poursuivi avec une visite guidée du projet, incluant un passage par Le Fou Fou, offrant un moment privilégié pour découvrir l’univers de ce lieu, imaginé par notre équipe.

Merci à CARBONLEO pour l’organisation de ce bel événement, ainsi qu’à toutes les personnes présentes pour la qualité des échanges et l’énergie partagée. Bravo également à Index-Design pour cette toute première édition de la Semaine de Design de Montréal.

A look back in images at an inspiring gathering.

Last Friday, Salon Joséphine hosted a discussion on Royalmount and the development of this major project as part of Montreal Design Week.

On this occasion, Anne-Marie Bouliane, Partner and Architect at LemayMichaud, was invited to join the conversation alongside Ana Borrallo of Borrallo Design, Eve Larochelle of Carbonleo, and Claire Tousignant of MASSIVart.

A particularly enjoyable moment, marked by rich and open exchanges. There was a genuine desire to share, reflect together, and dive into the intentions behind a project such as Royalmount, in a warm and inspiring atmosphere.

The event continued with a guided tour of the project, including a stop at Le Fou Fou, offering a unique opportunity to discover the universe of this space, designed by our team.

Many thanks to CARBONLEO for organizing this wonderful event, as well as to everyone who attended for the quality of the discussions and the energy in the room. Congratulations also to Index-Design on this very first edition of Montreal Design Week.

À cette occasion, elle présentera une conférence portant sur l’analyse fonctionnelle, une étape clé des études préliminaires qui permet de bien définir les besoins, les fonctions et les paramètres d’un projet.

À travers cette approche rigoureuse, elle mettra en lumière comment structurer des projets complexes, qu’ils soient institutionnels, gouvernementaux ou municipaux, et à bâtir une base solide pour la conception, tout en soutenant la réflexion sur les coûts et les impacts sociaux et environnementaux.

Architecte et détentrice de la certification VMA, Catherine se consacre depuis plusieurs années aux programmes fonctionnels et techniques, apportant une expertise pointue à des mandats d’envergure et au sein de notre équipe.

Royalmount : dans les coulisses d’une destination design.

Dans le cadre de la toute première Semaine de Design de Montréal, Anne-Marie Bouliane, architecte associée chez LemayMichaud, prendra part ce matin à une discussion autour du Royalmount et de sa conception, aux côtés d’Ana Borrallo de Borrallo Design, Ève Larochelle de Carbonleo et Claire Tousignant de MASSIVart.

Tenue au Salon Joséphine, cette rencontre propose une immersion au cœur des réflexions et décisions qui ont façonné le projet, de l’architecture aux aménagements intérieurs, jusqu’à l’intégration de l’art et à la création d’une expérience visiteur cohérente et distinctive. L’événement prendra la forme d’un déjeuner suivi d’un parcours immersif en compagnie des créatrices du projet.

Royalmount: behind the scenes of a design destination.

As part of the very first Montréal Design Week, Anne-Marie Bouliane, Partner and Architect at LemayMichaud, will take part this morning in a discussion on Royalmount and its design, alongside Ana Borrallo from Borrallo Design, Ève Larochelle from Carbonleo, and Claire Tousignant from MASSIVart.

Held at Salon Joséphine, this gathering offers an immersive look into the thinking and decisions that shaped the project from architecture and interior design to the integration of art and the creation of a cohesive, distinctive visitor experience. La semaine dernière, le premier ministre a annoncé de nouveaux projets de logements sociaux à Ottawa dans le cadre du programme Build Canada Homes Partnership.

L’événement s’est tenu sur le site de notre projet OCH Geyser Place, situé à Barrhaven, dans la banlieue sud d’Ottawa, dont la construction débutera en septembre.

Ce projet de 118 unités, réalisé pour Ottawa Community Housing - OCH, comprend un bâtiment de 9 étages ainsi qu’un ensemble de maisons de ville, dans le cadre de la phase 2 du développement de Geyser Place. Il mise sur une performance énergétique élevée, l’intégration d’énergies renouvelables et une approche architecturale durable axée sur le confort et la qualité de vie.

OCH Geyser Place s’inscrit dans une initiative d’envergure visant à soutenir le développement de logements abordables à Ottawa.

Last week, the Prime Minister announced new social housing projects in Ottawa as part of the Build Canada Homes Partnership program.

The announcement event took place on the site of our OCH Geyser Place project, located in Barrhaven, in Ottawa’s southern suburbs, with construction scheduled to begin in September.

This 118-unit project, developed for Ottawa Community Housing - OCH, includes a 9-storey building as well as a series of townhouses, as part of Phase 2 of the Geyser Place development. It focuses on high energy performance, the integration of renewable energy sources, and a sustainable architectural approach centered on comfort and quality of life.

OCH Geyser Place is part of a large-scale initiative aimed at supporting the development of affordable housing in Ottawa.
