This week, we’re featuring our wonderful friend Aleks Byrd. She released today a new pattern knitted in Les Garçons yarn: the Kohin scarf.
Kohin is inspired by the rhythmic movement of water: the name translates from Estonian to the rustling sound of the leaves or waves. This triangular scarf is a stunning exploration of texture and innovative construction: it takes shape by first knitting a DK-weight body from tip to tip, incorporating specific purl ridges that serve as anchors for the lace panel. A lace-weight panel is then worked flat and joined to these ridges on every right-side row, finishing with a grafted edge at the opposite tip.
Whether you choose high-contrast colours to highlight the geometry or tonal shades for a subtle, shimmering effect, this pattern invites you to play with transparency and depth.
Cette semaine, nous mettons à l’honneur notre merveilleuse amie Aleks Byrd. Elle vient de sortir aujourd’hui un nouveau patron tricoté avec la laine Les Garçons : l’écharpe Kohin.
Kohin s’inspire du mouvement rythmique de l’eau : son nom, en estonien, évoque le bruissement des feuilles ou des vagues. Cette écharpe triangulaire vous permettra d’explorer les textures et des techniques innovantes : elle prend forme en tricotant d’abord la partie principale en fil de grosseur « DK » d’un bout à l’autre, en y intégrant des mailles envers qui serviront de points d’ancrage pour le panneau de dentelle. Ce panneau est tricoté à plat et assemblé à ces mailles sur chaque rang endroit. On termine par un remaillage à l’extrémité opposée.
