I have a big group of new followers so I thought I'd take a moment to re-introduce myself and my pottery biz!
My name is Sarah and I have been doing pottery for around four years now. I am a self taught potter, working out of my home studio in Moose Jaw, SK. All my pottery is hand built (no wheel!) by rolling out clay into thin slabs and then forming them by hand.
I'm big on adding texture to my pieces and incorporate a lot of different forms of art to add detail to my pieces. I use texture rollers, hand carving, hand made stamps, hand painting and most recently-- silk screening to add details to my pottery. I'm always looking for new ways to add texture to my pieces!
My business approach is a bit sporadic, mostly due to the fact that I also work a full time job in healthcare and have three young kiddos that keep me very busy with all their hobbies and activities!
I make pottery in small batches and have pop up sales when I have a batch ready to sell. I have been approached by several retailers in the last year to stock my pottery in stores, but every time I think I can swing doing this, I am reminded that there are not enough hours in the day to do pottery with my hectic life at the moment! π₯΄
Occasionally I am open for commissioned work, and I will give notice on my socials when I am open for customs. The majority of my work, however, is made to order and sold in small batches!
What's up next?
I will have two more pop up sales over the next month-- one sale will be the little heart wildflower vases (currently glazing) and then a small drop of mugs and butter dishes. We are off to Europe mid-June for three weeks and then I typically take the summer off with the kids out of school, so it will be quiet in the studio after these next two sales until the end of summer.
Thanks for following along, and supporting my pottery! π
