Cool evenings warming by the fire! Here is your reminder to thoroughly inspect your wood burning appliance and venting for things like:
- Obstructions, soot, and creosote (More than 1/8"=Time to Clean!)
- Cracks, damage, warping, deterioration- requires repairs!
- Gaskets- do they seal effectively?
- Check your Smoke & Carbon Monoxide alarms, and add, maintain or replace if necessary (A Carbon Monoxide alarm is required in the same room as your appliance)
- Ensure all combustible material & furniture is far enough away
- Ensure your wood is well seasoned and dry- wood moisture content should be around 15%, over 20% needs more dry time!
