Mist and dew are the same water — air-suspended, leaf-held, gone by mid-morning if the sun finds them. But for the hour they are there, they catch every bit of light.

Two pairs of wire-wrap earrings, sisters with the same stone but slightly different makes. Mist Drops & Dew Drops — both copper, both quartz, both made for the kind of day when you can't be in the forest but want to wear a small piece of it anyway.

Both in the shop now.

Vines do not work fast. They grow around what they find and stay there.

Vine Drops take that idea and put it on a long copper twist — coiled wire wrapped slowly, by hand, around a single deep-green quartz that catches what light there is.

Heavy enough to swing when you walk. Long enough to read as a statement without trying.

In the shop now.

A patch of forest floor isn't one thing. It's lichens stacked on lichens, ferns coming up through moss, a hundred small textures in one small place.

Two pairs of earrings, same family. Lichen Drops — the vertical leaf design (slide 1). Fern Drops — the spreading leaf design (slide 2). Both in patinated copper with leaf-vine cutouts. Both small enough to read like miniature ecosystems on the ear.

Sisters, not twins. Pick the one whose shape you keep returning to.

Both in the shop now.

Look up in a forest with a thick canopy and you see a triangle — branches converging at the same point, leaves overlapping like overlapping scales.

Moss Veil is that, in copper. A triangular pendant, patinated green, with a row of leaf-vine across the top edge and a single small jade resting at the bottom.

It sits across the collarbone the way a leaf canopy sits across the sky — wide, flat, holding the green.

In the shop now.

Some pieces want to be worn long.

Forest Spine is a vertical pendant — copper aged green, laid over with a leaf-vine in raw metal, holding one small piece of jade at the lower curve.

It wears the way a fern stem looks lying flat against a tree trunk. Long, vertical, quiet. Made for days when you want one thing on your chest and nothing else.

In the shop now.

Four forge pieces — Moss Veil and Forest Spine (pendants in copper and jade), Lichen Drops and Fern Drops (earrings in patinated copper with leaf-vine cutouts).

Each one is sheet copper, shaped at the bench, then aged with a hand-applied patina and tinted with India ink to draw the green forward. The bright copper leaf-vine laid over the green ground is the moment your eye picks out a single fern stem against the moss behind it.

In the shop now. Full story on the blog.

Moss & Metal is here.

A collection that started on a hike with my family, somewhere damp and dim — the kind of forest where light goes quiet. Where moss lets your steps land softer, and water moves over stone somewhere ahead of you.

What I came home with wasn't an object. It was a feeling, and a question about whether copper could hold it.

Two lanes of work, one theme. Forged pendants and earrings in patinated copper, hand-tinted with India ink to draw the green forward. Jade in the pendants, leaf-vine cutouts on the earrings. Wire-wrapped earrings in copper and deep-green quartz, coiled slowly the way a vine grows.

Made by hand in my studio in Derwent.

The full story is on the blog. The pieces are in the shop.

A pair of butterfly earrings, made from clay I dug out of my own yard.
Not bought clay. Not ordered clay. Clay from the same patch of Derwent prairie I walk on every day — pulled out of the ground, worked into discs, fired and glazed iridescent blue, with little metal butterflies set on the front. There's nothing about these earrings that didn't start within a few feet of where I'm sitting right now.
Mother's Day is behind us now, and the shop's a little quieter again — back to the usual hum of one piece at a time. If you bought something this week, and it's settled into your day, I'd love to hear about it. Wherever you reach me. I read everything that comes in.

Happy Mother's Day from Derwent.
This is the field at my place — the kind of evening light you remember more than the day. Made in Alberta, ships from Derwent: every piece in the shop, every campaign post this week, all from this one little spot on the prairie. If you're still looking for something today and you find a piece you love, send me a message — I'll do my best to get it on its way.
If you've ever wondered why I'm here making this in Derwent, the longer story lives on the blog: https://www.geneensgiftgallery.com/post/handmade-in-alberta
Thank you for spending part of your Sunday here.

Mother's Day is tomorrow.
If you're still looking, this is a silver wire-wrapped bracelet that holds one stone — a single mixed specimen of rutilated quartz and black agate, the kind of stone that does both inside itself. Dark and opaque on the surface, with depth that shifts when you turn it: the agate banding running deep, the rutile threading through where the composition shifts. One stone, one piece, the wire holding it close to the band.
Send me a message if you'd like to know whether it's still here, or if you want to ask about something similar in the catalogue.
