The Mid-Autumn Festival returns to Maffeo Sutton Park for two days of culture, food, family fun and moonlit magic.

Join the celebration on September 18 & 19 for lantern decorating, traditional performances, local food, family activities and more, with fireworks lighting up the sky on Saturday night 🎇

It’s a free celebration of Asian culture, community and tradition, and everyone is welcome.

The 40th annual Silly Boat Regatta is Sunday, July 19th @ 11:30a.m. at Maffeo Sutton park. This event is always a lot of fun for a great cause! Canadian children's entertainer Fred Penner will be singing his iconic songs before all the splish-splashing begins 💦
Come down and check it out!

A legendary Canadian children's musician will be at the Silly Boat Regatta to sing songs before all the splashing starts. Fred Penner will be the headline entertainer at the 40th Nanaimo Silly Boat Regatta this Sunday, July 19, at 11:30 a.m. at Maffeo Sutton Park.
The four-time Juno Award winner, best known for his hit 'The Cat Came Back' and his long-running CBC TV series Fred Penner's Place, lives in Bowser, B.C.
Performing at the Silly Boat Regatta, a fundraiser for the Nanaimo Child Development Centre, fits well with Penner's values.
"Never underestimate your ability to make a difference in the life of a child. That's been almost a mantra for me for a long time," he said.

Do you know the history of the iconic Rogers' chocolates?

Established in 1885 in Victoria, B.C. the son of a Massachusetts farmer, Charles “Candy” Rogers moved to Victoria B.C. He very quickly established a “green grocery” on the west side of Government Street, across from the location he would later develop into the iconic heritage store they call home today. Alongside the fruits and vegetables, Charles sold chocolates that were imported from San Francisco. He married a local girl, Leah Morrison and with tourists and locals buying up their sweets as fast as they could stock the shelves, Charles decided to begin making the chocolates himself. His first creation being the Victorian creme.
If you're ever in Victoria, be sure to step into the Rogers old world store, located on Government St. It's like stepping back in time and you'll be enrobed by the scent of fresh chocolate 🍫
