One woman’s story. Another woman’s fight.
When I wrote Beneath my Scars, I wrote about surviving high risk domestic violence and finding a way forward. When I approached Wildroot about this campaign, the book became about supporting another woman’s journey. I wanted to do this because sometimes, standing beside another woman means more than telling their stories. It means showing up, offering support and ultimately helping with the next step. My life’s work has been dedicated to supporting women who’ve experienced gender based violence, as program director at Aimee Beaulieu Transition House, Chair of the Nelsons VAWIR Committee and ICAT Team( cases of highest risk violence) and now ED of NCS. This campaign isn’t about me but of it helps to set context of who I am and why I’d do this.
Until October 31, 50% of sales will support a local woman, Anna Lauriente as she prepares to travel to Hawaii for court as she pursues justice following a brutal assault. I want to help in whatever way I can. And if you do too, now is the perfect time to pick up a copy of Beneath my Scars. My hope is that pairing a donation with a book campaign, my book, will provide information about violence against women, and start necessary conversations. My hope is this campaign will make a difference and that you’ll support it with a purchase, letting her know that she has a community of support standing with her.
