A room, like a flower, tells you what it needs before you've decided anything. The rose asks for a little wear. The orchid asks to be left alone. Nothing about a peony suggests restraint, and nothing about a protea apologizes for taking up space.

We went looking for the design style hiding inside eight blooms — swipe through and see if your house already knows which one it is.

Plum season is here and we are not wasting a single one. Halve them. Drizzle with Canadian maple syrup, a drop of vanilla, and a pinch of salt.
