Amy Smith, from CBC News, dropped by our flower farm today to talk about the article. The interview airs tonight at 6:30 on CBC News Nova Scotia.

Thanks to Debra Prinzing, founder of the SLOW Flowers Society, we are included in this NYT article by Markoulakis on flower farm weddings. If you’re a flower farmer, consider joining the SLOW Flowers Society. We can’t speak highly enough of the many benefits we have enjoyed through our membership.

Susan’s demo for the Chester Garden Club members was apropos for their upcoming garden show.

She showed a variety of sustainable armatures for floral design. From clematis vines, moss and chicken wire, boutonnière pins, twigs, frogs, to the vessel itself—all can be a perfect armature. These photos show armature possibilities, not completed arrangements.

Sustainable armatures are reusable, reduce costs and keeps the single use, petrochemical-based floral foam out of landfills.

Thank you, CGC members for your enthusiasm, your support for sustainable floristry and for attentively sitting through today’s near hurricane.

One of our first CSA deliveries. Lilacs, lamb’s ear, lily of the valley, and white anemones, also known as windflower. A spring pick-me-up!
