So many new pretties in store!!

I've been a very busy rabbit these last few days getting all our new products up on the website and out on the shop floor! I've been playing tetris trying to get everything up on the wall!

Here's a little tastier of what's new, there's more in store and after my cup of tea and piece of cake I'll get writing tomorrow's newsletter!

We're open our regular hours all long weekend, 11am - 6pm so come by and take a look at everything new!

This is why I teach.

This is Linda's first ever chain, she had never picked up a crochet hook before yesterday evening. I love teaching beginners, I love teaching anyone, and that smile is just the best.

Our Nancy has been felting up a storm!

Just look at this fabulous bag she made, it even has a pocket (felted in, not sewn) inside!!

*and* she's made a stunning vessel too, we just love seeing everything she's made.

New yarns from WildWestDye ready for Love My LYS Yarn Crawl Weekend!

WildWestDye has been busy with their dye pots, and winding station, getting ready for Love My LYS (Local Yarn Store) Yarn Crawl weekend!

There's three new yarns for you to choose from, whether these will become shop staples or not, time will tell, but for now there is two colours in each of the bases. The forever loved RainbowCloud, and a new colour for Fall, MapleAurora.

The bases:

Naturally Dyed Suri Silk, 65% Baby Suri/ 35% Silk, 255m per 40g.

Naturally Dyed Merino Neps Fi*****ng, 80% Merino/ 30% Neps, 338m per 100g.

And the oh so sparkly and fun, Naturally Dyed Sequin Silk Merino Sport, 50% Silk with Sequins, 50% merino, 140m per 50g.

I've been busy knitting up some samples, and I absolutely love the Vesna Mini Scarf by . I've also got the matching Vesna Tee (Ravelry link) on the needles using the Merino Neps Fi*****ng and Suri Silk.

And then there's minis galore! I've wound up a whole pile of minis, perfect to edge your Vesna mini scarf, or you can choose three to knit up a Cupid Cowl designed by me, or of course anything you wish!

New in store from Laceweight to Super Bulky!

You asked, we answered! Pure Cashmere is in the house! (or should I say hutch??)

Lang Yarns Cashmere Lace is a 4ply double-twisted pure cashmere of the best quality, and of course, we wouldn't expect anything less from Lang! Double-twisted means there are two sets of two ply yarns that have been twisted together for a 4ply, I haven't as yet knit with it, but you know I'm going to soon!

Lang have a beautiful wristwarmer/ fingerless gloves and scarf pattern using at this yarn:

PTO-060_05 Lang Yarns Cashmere Lace, aka wristwarmer, by Langyarns (nope, they are not known for their inspiring design names!!), and

PTO-060_06 Lang Yarns Cashmere Lace aka a scarf by Langyarns

There's also a matching hat, PTO-060_04, this is in a DK weight, but I think if you paired the cashmere with a fluff it would work up so nicely, and I might just do that too!! It'll look so pretty paired with one from the Rico Spray collection.

Now, over to Super Bulky, we have a new yarn from Estelle Yarns , Gemstone Merino! A soft single ply bulky weight yarn, and great for those quick knit or crochet gifts! I'm going to be whipping up a headband or two with these, and I've totally got my eye on Love Potion!

Also in the hutch; Gold & Silver Astra is back, yup, get ready to sparkle ✨

And we've got our restock of Highland Alpaca DK Tweed in and I sure have my eye on the Pine colourway!

🧶On the needles!

I've been making good progress on my Gingham Fruit Sweater by CM Knits maybe 2 more pattern repeats and I'll be ready to rib, and then onto the strawberries! 🍓

It's such a fun pattern to knit, I like the rhythm of the 4 row gingham pattern, and the progress you can see with this. I'm using the two handed colourwork knitting technique, and ladderback jacquard. (It's a Ladderback bonanza on the back!!)

I'm going to be knitting the small strawberry motif on the sleeves, and making half sleeves of course(!). There's blueberries and lemons to choose from in the same pattern too!

Good news too, our order of Anchor Bay Cascade Yarns
has arrived and we're all restocked!

If you'd like to dive into some colourwork, we've got spaces available for the Two Hand Colourwork workshop happening tomorrow, starting at 6:30pm, and you can learn the fabulous Ladderback Jacquard technique in our workshop on Saturday.

Ever wonder what happens to the donations left behind after our semi-annual yarn swaps? They get sorted and picked up by knit groups, donation blanket crafters and to go in the fibre libraries! We just wrapped up our 9th Baaad Rabbit yarn swap and collected another $900+ donations to Aunt Leah's to make a grand total of $6106 collected from our first 9 swaps! See you again in February!!

Join the Baaadies at Baaad Rabbit Fibre Arts in New Westminster *this Sunday* September 13th for 9th semi-annual Yarn Swap event, from 3-5pm.

What is a Yarn Swap?

A yarn swap is an exchange of our under-loved yarns in exchange for new-to-us yarn that might be more likely to jump onto your needle or hook!! A skein of something you no longer want to use for something another may no longer need. It's a win-win and the yarn finds a new home! A community yarn swap is a bigger treat!

To make these fibre exchanges fair and equitable to all previously loved and owned yarns, when you bring in your yarn to swap you will be given 'yarn tickets'. The amount of tickets for your yarn is based on its fibre content and whether it was commercial or hand dyed. (Think: cottons & poly blends, 1 ticket; natural fibre or LYS quality workhorse yarns, 2 tickets; hand-dyed, handspun or luxury blends 3 tickets).

Only full skeins in good condition will be accepted. Please no allergens (smells/ per hair) or evidence of moths (sand-like particles, loose/ cut ends).

To exchange yarn on the swap tables, just trade in your tickets! We will also offer tickets for sale for $2 ea with all proceeds directed to our lovely non-profit neighbours, Aunt Leah's Society which offers programming to youth transitioning out of the foster care system. Over the past 8 swaps together we have raised a total of $5,215 in donations with these events!

We donate any of the leftover yarns to the free fibre libraries or other non-profit ventures via Baaad Anna's Community programs, and do not have the capacity to offer any returns/refunds on unused tickets, so maybe take that into consideration before exchanging your yarns for tickets. Also for the sake of equity we will be allowing ONE exchange at a time (per person to hold onto & 'pay' for one yarn at a time) to mitigate our natural instinct to gather too many at once AND because sharing is caring!
