her absolute cat crazy heart inspired my first graphgan sweater⁣⁣

she is the loveliest person, always brings the support but not the judgement⁣⁣

i am so grateful for her⁣⁣ and everything she is

ain’t my *crazy cat lady sweater* the coolest thing? cat got your tongue? ( for the cat puns still to come)⁣

it has been actual ages since my last post⁣
⁣
so i think it’s time to finally let this cat out of the bag⁣
⁣
between a crazy work life, a major dog health scare requiring surgery and lots of post-care, and a general blah-ness that has been day after day with covid⁣
⁣
i simply haven’t been overly excited about… well, anything - creative projects included⁣
⁣
but i am finally feeling ready to start sharing more of what creations i have on the go⁣
⁣

what a peach - am I right or am I right?⁣

when i first brought to life, i had grand visions⁣
⁣
of sharing not only crochet projects…⁣
⁣
but also macramé! candles! home decor!⁣ all the things i love exploring
⁣
creating quality content can be stressful and way more time consuming than i expected⁣
⁣
so i hope you have enjoyed my tie dye creations⁣
⁣

i don’t know about anybody else, but I have been totally digging tie dye this summer⁣⁣
⁣⁣
it’s funky, it’s fun and i love that every piece is absolutely one-of-a-kind and unique⁣⁣
⁣⁣
it also makes for a perfect weekend project…⁣⁣
⁣⁣
…even if we were covered in dye for days ⁣
⁣⁣

worked up with a double strand moss stitch⁣⁣
⁣⁣
it worked up almost like a weighted blanket⁣⁣
⁣⁣
‘scuse me while i pull this down for a lil pressure therapy and coffee⁣ time⁣
⁣⁣

the moss stitch is, by far, my favorite all time look⁣
⁣
it gives the most perfect texture and drape⁣
⁣
and is one of those repetitive, dont-need-a-pattern stitches that are so great when you just want to kick back and create without too much focus⁣
⁣
best of all,⁣
⁣
it is the most wonderful project to fall into the weekend with⁣
⁣
this week has featured late nights (im talking til 3 am, y’all); quick and easy take-out to counter an empty fridge; and pretending that the growing pile of clothes on the floor are simply not there⁣
⁣
i have long said that i never want to be the kind of person who - if i were to wake up one day and find i has lost my job - would have little else to enjoy in life⁣
⁣
i say this exhausted at the end of every week, but i am promising myself once again that health, relationships and personal passions will take precedence each day⁣
⁣
what are you promising to do for yourself during the weekend ahead?⁣

it is the cooking up of new and completely original things, of new directions, of commitments to one’s art and work that continuously nourishes the wild soul⁣

life is not about the day-in, day-out grind of work. school. chores. the same routine every single day.⁣
⁣
it’s about finding things to truly enjoy, something that awakens passion and brings you peace⁣
⁣
this is a loving jab to give yourself permission to take pause today - even if only for a moment - and let that wild soul free⁣

i had written (what i think was) a lovely, poetic piece about self-care and being as kind to ourselves as we are to the people around us⁣⁣
⁣⁣
and then tied it into a point about looking at this beautiful blanket i made and how cozy and soft it is and how wonderful crocheting is and how you should check out my etsy shop (link in bio)⁣⁣

but, the reality is i am not myself at the moment⁣⁣
⁣⁣
and putting energy towards pretty social media posts and scheduled content is draining and inauthentic⁣⁣
⁣⁣
so - walking the walk - here is plainly what id like to put out to the world today:⁣⁣
⁣⁣
don’t wait for someone to give you permission to step back and take a break;⁣⁣
⁣⁣
if you don’t have space to give to others right now, boundaries are okay;⁣⁣
⁣⁣
give yourself what you need & - even it’s packed away in a tiny corner of your mind - remember that everything will be okay⁣⁣

& now i return to my day of rest & crocheting beautiful, cozy, soft blankets⁣⁣

Welcome to my shop (cue jazz hands)!

I've always been a crafty gal; from cross-stitching, home-made greeting cards, macramé, candle making... well, you get the picture... I absolutely love creating!

A few short years ago, I was inspired by some crazy talented friends to try my hand at crocheting, as well. Before I knew it, yarn was overflowing from my shelves, all my loved ones were receiving scarves and blankets as gifts, and I never left the house without a hook & a project in my bag.

Today, Old Soul Creations lets me to put a funky spin on the traditional craft of crochet and share it with the world! I'm always on the lookout for cool, new projects so stop by often & don't be shy to reach out if you have a vision of your own that you'd like to bring to life.
