✨ The beginning of something beautiful: Building My Home from the Ground Up✨
There’s something incredibly rewarding about watching your home come to life, especially when you’re building it from scratch.
Right now, I’m in the early stages of building, and while it might not look glamorous just yet, this is where the magic quietly begins.
Before the walls, before the finishes, there are about 23 essential steps that happen first. Permits, planning, excavation, fill, drainage, inspections… All the groundwork that sets the foundation for everything to come.
And to be honest?
The groundwork has been my biggest challenge so far.
It’s been the most expensive, the most unpredictable, and the most frustrating. You don’t truly know how your land will behave until you’re deep into it, and it can feel like you’re pouring resources into something invisible. But it’s also the stage that holds everything up - literally.
Through it all, I’ve been scheduling trades, lining up every step so nothing gets missed. And while there are lots of moving parts, it’s incredibly rewarding to see the vision start taking shape, one layer at a time.
One thing that kept me grounded (no pun intended 😉)?
Being prepared.
I’ve made most of my design decisions: lighting, cabinetry, floors, plumbing fixtures before framing even began. Because once those walls go up, the pressure is on, and decisions come at you fast.
By planning ahead, I’ve avoided the overwhelm - and created a road map that brings beauty, warmth, and purpose to every corner of the home.
To me, home should make you feel something the moment you walk in. Relaxed. Inspired. At ease. At home.
✨ That feeling doesn’t just happen ~ it’s created with intention, and it starts long before the drywall.
So if you’re planning a build or renovation, remember: the effort you put in early will make all the difference in the end.
Let’s plan those selections, plan ahead, and build a space that truly feels like you.
