🍂PIP
There’s a trend in the yarn & wool industry, to move away from treated (superwash) wools. The reason is because the superwash process involves a lot of heavy chemicals and microplastics, which run off in to our water when washed, and also eliminates some of the properties of wool that we just simply love.
Wool is the most renewable and sustainable fibre that we process for garments. It is generally a no ki|| product, meaning the wool fleece can be shorn again and again, year after year. Processing natural wool is the most environmentally friendly process as it uses less water and chemicals than any other fibre. Wool is warm and insulating, and you may be surprised to hear, that wool fibre itself is allergen free!
Wool is a protein fibre- like human hair- there is no dander from wool, but do you find it itchy? Try a higher quality wool, like merino. There is no itch factor because the fibre itself is so highly crimped, it creates almost soft little clouds against your skin when you wear it.
Pip is a true 100% British wool, farmed and spun on British soil, and we are just obsessed with her. It’s a gorgeous fi*****ng weight, with rich, deep colours. The yarn itself mimics Jamieson’s of Shetland- making it perfect for colourwork, or projects done in single colours.
Our shawl sample is made, and worn often, from pip. The pattern is “A Girl’s Best Friend” which is quite fitting, given how much we love the yarn it’s knit from.
Check out our gorgeous selection of Pip the next time you’re in the shop, or on our online store!
