A peak into life this last month… family visits, improving weather, the claydown launch, QOTN prep. Not featured— HFM, strep throat and a migraine. Life is full of balance.

Coming into June, I feel excited for our next vendor booth at Northern Skies Wellness fair, I have some fresh ideas for the business and hoping to slow down a little for the month. June is my favourite month of the year with my birthday at the start and my daughter’s at the end. Warm days, comfortable nights, and a feeling of change

Look, sometimes you have to do as I say and not as I do.

Yes, time and energy and resources have gone into these pieces and glazing them untested is risky! BUT we can always slap oatmeal on top and refire, amiright?

Meet Rachelle!
Her beautiful piece took 2nd place in this years Claydown competition, on display until May 16th

Rachelle Michelle is an artist who has come to see art as something you earn through lived experience and self-recognition. Originally from BC, she spent part of her youth in South America, where she developed adaptability through learning a new culture and language. Returning to Canada as a young adult, she found herself navigating questions of identity and belonging across different worlds.

Through life experiences, including the loss of her father, she explored many versions of herself before coming to the understanding that there is no single “ideal” form to become. Today, her practice is rooted in presence and authenticity, embracing simply existing as she is, without needing to fit a prescribed mold.

There’s still time to see Alicia’s work at Good Atlas! Claydown exhibition is on until Saturday May 16th!

Alicia Cressall began working with clay after taking Pottery 101 at Clayverly’s this winter, where she started exploring how to make objects that are both beautiful and useful. She is focused on learning through making, with an interest in everyday forms and the role they play in daily life. Alicia was also this year’s runner up in the amateur division! So proud of her :)
