When we talk about fire safety, we don't want to stop at saying a material is "fire resistant." We want to understand how that resistance is evaluated.
That brings us to 5VA.

The 5VA classification under UL 94 evaluates how a material behaves when exposed to flame under specific test conditions, including afterflame behaviour and whether the test specimen develops a hole.

Why does this matter for a heat mat?
Because the materials and components selected for electrical heating equipment can play an important role in product safety.
