Waterproof floors — here's what that actually means, and what it doesn't.

We get this question multiple times a week at Oshawa Carpet One, and most product labels make it more confusing than it needs to be.

The real answer: waterproof means the floor won't swell or buckle from surface water. Spills, dog bowls, a drink knocked over on your kitchen floor — 24 hours, wipe it up, you're fine.

It does NOT mean flood-proof. If your dishwasher goes while you're away for the weekend, water is getting underneath that floor, damaging your subfloor, and you're looking at a much bigger problem than just replacing the flooring.

👟 Comfort underfoot - You stand here for long stretches. Softer materials and cushioned underlayment matter more than people think.

💧 True waterproofing - Water resistant and waterproof are NOT the same thing. Know the difference before you buy.

🧹 Grout line spacing - Smaller grout lines on tile mean fewer crevices for crumbs and grease to hide. Your future self will thank you.

We are absolutely thrilled to be the main team sponsor for the Oshawa Generals U15 BB squad for the 2026/2027 season! Seeing these kids hit the ice for their first team scrimmage against the U14 BB team is exactly what community sports are all about.

* The team was flying out there during the scrimmage, showing incredible hustle right out of the gate!

* You can already see the intense focus from the bench as the players watch their teammates battle it out.

* It is fantastic to see the players in their white, blue, and red gear back in action on the ice.

* The boys are getting right back into the swing of things, passing, skating hard, and setting a great tone for the year.
