I have done a lot of bible repairs in my day, and let me tell you, bibles go through it. But I'm starting to think cookbooks go through it too!
This cookbook repair took me quite a while to figure out the best approach. I thought I could rescue the orginal cover and laminate it to give it more strength, but it was just too damaged. However, it had handwriting on the other side. So I split the cover into two sheets of paper (front and back) took a photo of the original front, did my best to clean up the image and fill out what had been lost to time and printed a brand new cover pasting the handwriting to the inside! My client was very pleased with how it came out.
Then it was a matter of laminating a few pages edges where the spiral had completely ripped, and putting a brand new spiral on the cookbook. And done!
Was there actually another cookbook that I repaired with this one that I completely forgot to photograph? Yes. Unfortunately there was. You'll just have to trust me, it also turned out great π
Onto the next project!
