Thank you for surviving.
For us, this day is not about a single post, a single orange shirt, or a single moment of reflection.
It is about remembering that the history we are asked to confront is not distant. Its impacts are still present in families, communities, systems, relationships, and in the ways Indigenous people continue to move through this country.
It is also about remembering that Indigenous peoples are not only part of a painful history. We are here now. We are building businesses, raising families, creating art, protecting language, carrying knowledge, leading communities, laughing, adapting, and shaping what comes next.
Truth has to come before reconciliation, and truth asks more of us than acknowledgement. It asks us to learn, to listen, to question what we have been taught, and to think about what responsibility looks like in our everyday choices.
At Bougie Birch, so much of our work comes back to relationship. Not perfection, not performance, but a willingness to engage with care, humility, and consistency.
So today, we honour Survivors, their families, and the children who never came home.
And tomorrow, the work continues.
