Honestly, I nearly regretted starting this project about 1/3 way in. This was work, and lots of it!

I did another piece similar to this a while ago... with the same faux red painted wood. This is one is clearly from the same artist, only this dresser had more than just the faux red paint finish. It had additional layers of paint under that red too.

There is nothing glamorous about using paint st****er. It's messy, time consuming, sticky and just down right gross.

This entire dresser was stripped down, multiple times, until I got back down to bare wood. Cleaned up, and then the entire piece sanded. The original mirror wasn't in the best reflective state, so decided to scrap it. Instead, I utilized a portion of the mirror frame, cut it down and added it back onto the back the dresser.

The entire dresser was stained, and multiple coats of poly to protect. The original hardware was cleaned up, and sprayed with gold.

It was SO much work, but I think it looks SO much better now.

It does have a few surface flaws, but to me, that's exactly how it should be!

Great to use in just about any space!

COMMISSION PIECE:

This piece has special value to Angie, as it originally belonged to her father. It had great structure, and lines, but was in desperate need of some repairs and cleaning up in general.

The embellishments all had to go. This took a bit of work to get the original finish off, all the while keeping the veneer intact. The entire piece was sanded back, the frame and middle door painted black, and poly to protect. The two end doors and top surface were re-stained using Minwax 'Special Walnut', along with lots of stain pens touch-ups, multiple coats of poly to protect. New wood trim accents added to middle door as well.

Doesn't this look SO sharp now?! What a change!

It was such a pleasure working with you, Angie! I hope this can get many more years of use for you now! Thank you!

Some pieces just work better with some paint (to me anyway!) This solid wood dresser was just lacking some character before!

Now we can see the beautiful age, and details to it! Character flaws and all!

The entire piece was sanded back. Top surface was re-stained, and poly to protect. I just love how it gives off cutting board vibes now! The rest of the dresser painted in a white tone called 'Crinoline', distressed, and clear waxed. The new hardware modernizes it just perfectly.

Even with the minor cosmetic imperfections, I think that's what makes this even more special. I just adore this outcome!

Ready for many more years of use!

COMMISSION PIECE:

This is the 2nd piece done for Melissa! Just like her little table, this one is such a great outcome as well!

This has been done to match her space a little better! Still has the old charm, but some modernized touches now!

The wood areas were sanded back, re-stained & poly to protect. The rest of the piece painted in a grey tone called 'Nocturnal', poly to protect.

The wood with the grey, wow! Such a pop. So much warmer and welcoming of a piece now!

It was great working with you on both of your pieces, Melissa! Thank you!

COMMISSION PIECE:

This little table has been in Melissa's family for some time. Was great as it was, but it was time for a little updating!

The top surface originally had a few water rings, nicks and dings. It was sanded back to bare wood, the grain and detail looks amazing now! Re-stained and poly to protect. The remainder was painted in a grey tone called 'Rocky Mountain', poly to protect.

A small change that makes a big impact!

Wonderful working on this with you Melissa! Can't wait to share your next piece!

A little bit of country, a lot of charm; perfect for a nursery or playroom.

This piece is typically utilized in a kitchen setting, but I figured let's think outside the box a bit here. It's great for dishes, but it's also really great for storing, toys and books for the little ones!

The surfaces were sanded back to bare wood, kept natural, no re-staining, multiple coats of poly to protect. My aim was to make the rest of the piece look like worn in dirty jeans - just like a cowboy's. The frame, doors & drawer were painted in a blue tone, distressed, black waxed and purposely given a "beat up" look. The new k***s add some modernizing. The showstopper, the cowboy themed paper.

Rope yourself a deal with this one-of-a-kind refinished bookcase!

This solid wood dresser originally had layers of white paint all over it. It simply had to go!

The entire dresser was stripped, and sanded of all the white. Now, wow. Look at that wood detail & grain!

After all the sanding was done, re-stained and multiple coats of poly to protect. The side panels have a sweet floral paper applied. And can't forget about the new hardware... brings everything together!

From boring white to wonderful warmth!

I think this outcome is just so sweet! 🌼

This solid wood little washstand was originally covered in faux wood paint finish. Why, who knows? 🤷🏼‍♀️

The shiny red fake wood had to go. All of it!

A bit of work, and quite a process to get it done.

The entire piece was stripped and sanded, and brought back to it's meant to be natural wood state. Re-stained in 'Briarsmoke' by Varathane, poly to protect. The drawer has been lined with a floral print paper. New (old) hardware I had on hand finishes it off perfectly.

So worth the work. Not perfect, but I think those little surface flaws make it even better!

She is back to where she is supposed to be! Her natural state. Ready for many more years of use!

This old gal has had a complete overhaul!

It's hard to tell in the before photo, but this one had quite a bit of cosmetic damage, lots of peeling veneer, & dings.

I peeled up ALL of the two layers of veneer on the top surface & two top drawers. Exposing a beautiful solid wood & grain. The rest of the dresser was patched, and mended as best as possible.

The frame and bottom two drawers were painted in black, to keep it in a buttery smooth finish and look, black wax applied. The top surface and drawers were stained and poly to protect. The original hardware was cleaned and polished up and now pop against the wood and black.

This piece is old, still has a few cosmetic imperfections, but I think that's what makes her even better!

Timeless.
