From Traditional to Modern Chic — A Full Kitchen Transformation

Swipe to see where we started… and where we landed.

This was a complete gut renovation — reimagined from the ground up. What was once a traditional kitchen is now a clean, modern, highly functional space with strong architectural lines, layered textures, and a refined, timeless palette.

We redesigned everything — layout, cabinetry, surfaces, lighting, and flow — to create a kitchen that not only looks beautiful, but truly works for how my clients live every day.

And can we talk about this island…
Statement piece
Function
Seating + prep + storage

Most importantly — such wonderful clients to collaborate with. Trust, vision, and openness always create the best results

5 Designer Tips When Planning a Kitchen:
1. Start with function first
Your layout should support how you live — not just how it looks.
2. Mix materials for depth
Combining finishes (matte, gloss, stone, wood tones) keeps a space from feeling flat.
3. Invest in your island
It’s the heart of the kitchen — make it both a statement and a workhorse.
4. Lighting is everything
Layer your lighting — task, ambient, and feature — it changes the entire feel.
5. Keep your palette cohesive
Limit your main finishes and repeat them for a calm, elevated look.

This is one of those projects where the transformation says it all

If you’re thinking about updating your kitchen — whether a refresh or full renovation — I’d love to help guide you.

Over the years as a designer, I collect beautiful pieces while sourcing for clients, staging homes, and refreshing spaces. Some are vintage finds, some are styling pieces, and some are pieces I’ve used in photo shoots or room designs. Or original pieces I created.

From time to time I release them on Facebook Marketplace — often at very friendly prices.

Things like:
• styled trays
• vintage glassware
• baskets and decor
• artwork and unique pieces
• designer accessories used for staging

Many pieces sell quickly (as you can see from all the SOLD tags!), so if you enjoy discovering special decor pieces, it’s worth keeping an eye on my listings.

You can follow my Marketplace profile to see new finds as I post them.

Think of it as a little behind-the-scenes designer shop — with pieces I’ve personally selected.

~Styled and curated
~Often one-of-a-kind

Spring Refresh 🌿 Amazon Find!

I just added these linen-look blackout curtain panels to my Amazon favorites — and they’re such a simple upgrade that instantly makes a space feel calmer, taller, and more polished.

Why I like them:
✔️ Soft flax-beige neutral (easy to layer with warm woods + whites)
✔️ Blackout lining = better sleep + less glare
✔️ Pinch-pleat look (designer feel without custom pricing)
✔️ White back side for a clean exterior look

Designer Pro Tip: Hang your rod high + wide (closer to the ceiling + a bit past the window frame) for that “custom” look and bigger-looking windows.

50 Most Asked Interior Decor Questions —
*Open Concept Flow*

Does your open concept feel a little… disconnected?
Like each area is doing its own thing?

Open concept should flow — not fight.

Here are my designer pro tips to connect the whole space fast:

• Choose 1 bridge colour
A “connector” shade that works across the main areas you can see at once (living + kitchen + dining + hall)

• Repeat it 3 times across the space
Use that bridge colour in 3 places (walls, textiles, art, accents). Repetition makes it feel intentional — not random

• Keep trim + metals consistent
One trim colour throughout = instant continuity.
And try to stick to 1–2 metal finishes in the same sightline

Save this if you’re repainting soon

Super Bowl party prep doesn’t have to be complicated — it just has to feel fun. 🏈

Tomorrow I’m sharing easy Super Bowl party ideas on CTV Morning : simple food wins, quick “wow” stations, and a few playful decor touches that anyone can do.

My favourite part? You probably already have what you need.

Before you buy anything new, take 5 minutes and “shop your house”:

• Check your party box (paper goods, trays, string lights, banners, napkins)

• Pull out serving boards + baskets (chips, sliders, wings—instant upgrade)

• Grab one big bowl + a few small ones (snack mix, popcorn, toppings bar)
• Use blankets + pillows to make the living room extra cozy for the game

Quick ideas that always work:
🌭 Concession Corner (hot dogs, popcorn, chips + dips)

🌮 Taco Bar (set out toppings in little bowls—everyone builds their own)

🍕 Pizza + Grazing (easy, crowd-pleasing, zero stress)

🍹 Mocktail Moment for designated drivers (make it feel special!)

🏁 Mini decor DIY: a simple “goal line” table runner with green crepe paper + white tape, or water bottles dressed up as “ref” bottles (so cute + kid-friendly)

And the only rule? Connections, not perfection.

Make it easy, make it cozy, and enjoy your people. 💛

Which station would your crew love most — tacos, chili, wings, or a snack bar? 👇

Hit play 🎥

Back in January, I had the fun opportunity to share 2026 interior trends on CTV Your Morning — and I’m finally posting the clip here.

My take on trends has always been the same:
Make them livable. Make them layered. Make them feel like you.

In this segment, we talk about what’s coming next — and how to bring it into a real home without it feeling “too trendy” (or like you need a full renovation).

50 Most Asked Decor Questions —
#3: Lighting

Welcome to my 50 Most Asked Interior Decor Questions series!

Lighting 101 — Warmth, Layers & Glow

Lighting is the finishing layer that makes a room feel done — warm, flattering, and quietly expensive.

Not fussy. Not trendy. Just the kind of detail that instantly makes a home feel more polished (and a whole lot more comfortable).

Bespoke lighting details I love (and use all the time):

• Choose the right warmth: stick to 2700K for cozy glow (or 3000K for a clean warm feel) — consistency is everything

• Stop mixing bulbs: cool + warm in the same room = harsh, patchy light

• Layer your light: overhead + lamps + accent lighting creates depth (and that “designer” mood)

• Add dimmers: even beautiful lighting feels harsh at 100%

• Bring light to eye level: table lamps + floor lamps soften a space instantly (especially at night)

• Diffuse the glare: linen/light shades + frosted bulbs soften shadows and reduce that “spotlight” feeling

• Use pairs when you can: matching lamps on consoles/nightstands creates balance and calm

And honestly? Lighting isn’t just “pretty.” It affects your mood, your sleep routine, and how every colour and texture in your room reads. When the lighting is right, everything else looks better.

50 Most Asked Decor Questions —
#2: Curtains

Welcome to my 50 Most Asked Interior Decor Questions series!

Curtains 101 — Height, Width & Wow

Curtain panels are the finishing layer that makes a room feel done — warm, tailored, and quietly expensive.

Not fussy. Not trendy. Just the kind of detail that instantly makes a home feel more polished (and more comfortable).

Bespoke curtain details I love (and use all the time):

• Hang them high: place your rod 4–6” above the window (or as close to the ceiling/crown as you can) to visually lift the room

• Hang them wide: extend the rod 8–12” past the window on each side so the panels can stack off the glass and your window looks bigger

• Fullness matters: aim for total panel width 2x–2.5x the window width for a custom-looking drape (most windows need 2 panels)

• Length = instant polish: panels should kiss the floor (or puddle 1–2” if you like a softer, romantic look)

• Lining = luxury: better light control + privacy + the fabric hangs beautifully

• Don’t skip this: steam them — it’s the fastest “designer finish” there is 🙌

And honestly? Curtains aren’t just “pretty.” They soften sound, add warmth, and make a space feel more inviting — like it’s been thoughtfully finished, not just decorated.

She’s as beautiful on the inside as she is on the outside.

This kitchen was designed to feel like furniture—warm, tailored, and timeless—while still working hard for real life. From the custom walnut craftsmanship to the crisp Dekton surfaces, every detail was chosen for beauty and durability.

Bespoke details I love in this space:
• Walnut cabinetry + millwork that brings warmth and that “heirloom” feel
• Reeded glass cabinet fronts for texture + a soft, elevated glow (without feeling too formal)
• 42” x 42” stone floor tiles for that seamless, luxe foundation (and fewer grout lines 🙌)
• A layout that’s built for flow: cooking, gathering, and hosting all in one
• Thoughtful function: storage planning, zones, hardware, lighting, and the little details that make it feel effortless day-to-day

But honestly? One of the best parts of this project was the team + relationships.
True custom work only happens when the contractor, trades, clients, and designer trust each other, communicate, and care about the outcome. The quality here is a reflection of that collaboration—and I’m so proud of it.

Dream kitchen status: I love everything about this project. 😍

RUGS — the #1 question I get (so we’re starting here!)

Welcome to my 50 Most Asked Interior Decor Questions series!

First up: rug sizing + placement — because the right layout can instantly make a room feel finished.

In today’s post, I’m showing different rug layouts (living room + bedroom) and when to use each one.

Quick guidelines:

• Living room: aim for front legs on at minimum (all legs on if the space allows) Leave 8-12 inches of floor boarder if possible.
*Bigger rug = room feels bigger

• Bedroom: the rug should extend past the sides of the bed so your feet land on softness
• Dining: choose a rug big enough that chairs stay on the rug when pulled out. *Rugs must extend 24” past the table edge. Chairs shoukd stay on rug when pulled out.
