Throwback! Its summer ish here and I went looking for the best summer picture from my many mini creations. Adirondak chairs! I recall how relaxing this was and feel it when Iook at this picture. I was painting on my back porch, There is a waterfont that you dont see, and kids playing on the beach across the river. The end project was for a cake topper for a wedding cale. This inspired me to make the other chairs shown as part of a mother's day gift . A cute scene in a lantern of a campfire and marshmellows!

WIP Wednesday! The Tennyson I am refurbishing had these spindly flat posts. I dont think the origional builder used all of the parts.
So instead of square they were flat like plywood.
In my usuall in the moment momentum I didn't want to wait for the square dowels from amazon to arrive.
Not only that, but I really did want something a little less than half an inch.. A measurement you can only find at the dollar store :D Garden stakes!
It wins overall in price at 2:50 CDN for 12 feet of stick that you can use at least 80% of if you buy the straightest package. :D
Also I am priming them before I cut or sand so I can see them at their ultimate warpedness and choose my sections accordingly. I find most things easier to sand after primer. It always brings out the wood's best flaws!

NEW FILE ALERT!!! To Celebrate Im giving a sweet promo code for everything on my shop!!! DOLLSWEEKEND20

I’ve been working on something special for the dollhouse community — a modern 1:12 scale spiral staircase STL, designed using real stair proportions and engineered to print beautifully on basic FDM printers.

It comes in multiple pieces for clean, support‑free printing, and I’ve included two baluster styles, a railing, a central post, a base for assembly, and full instructions.

I print everything myself on an FDM machine, so you can be confident it works on everyday printers. If you have questions or want to share your finished build, I’d love to see it!

A very long time ago I started a project. I wanted spiral stairs. I wanted them to look real, and be the correct porportions. I had to learn how spiral stairs and railings are made in the big world. And then as always turn out a very easy to print file. It is finally ready for release! This file includes instructions with pictures. It is also a very fun project to assemble!

Great news! The BOOK file has passed 500 downloads! I created this Free STL -> BOOK to help anyone who is learning to print. I figured a quick file to see fast results. But also, while you are learning you end up with a bunch of books. WIN! Everyone needs books in their dolhouse.

I use this model and resize for the books / styles I need.

I know I complain about Etsy fees, but they are reliable. Cults3d was ok but I likely will not be uploading any more pay for designs to it until I hear better reviews from fellow designers. It supposedly only impacting sellers, but the lack of traffic/sales on my pay for designs on Cults3d tells me something is wrong with their new payment tools.

When I recieved the Tennyson house here it came furnished with some beautiful handcrafted furniture. I dont normally put dolls in the scenes but as I work on the house these two little people are watching me from the box. I figured they wanted a closer look.

~~~~
"Maggie, do you think the contractros know what they are doing? Come up and have a look!? " He shouted from upstairs in the attic
"Oh Cliff.. do I really need to come up there?" She complains
"Oh yes..." He laughs,.. celarly not impressed with the contractors work. "I think you could see this from another angle and square things up for me."
The last picture is to remind you of what I was working with.. There were no tabs to hold this portion of the roof together.
This is my 3d printed triangle idea. I created a triangle in my design tool and I hollowed it out so it looked like a wooden frame. Once I had my triangle I only needed to measure the length and height of that space and put that in my slicer. The angles figure themselves out. Still needs refining but you get the idea.
Long winded Update: Scraping off glue. You would think with that much glue it would have stuck together better! Before I had even started to dismantle anything myself, the bottom floor and roof were off. Then the side just peeled away!
I am not taking the whole thing apart. But there was so much glue! The second floor walls had a full cm of glue between them and the bottom floor walls so there was no chance of being even.
However the most challenging part of it all was not scraping the glue away ... Remember it didn't stick the house together so it just did not stick :D Or even reglueing it. But the roof!
Why would someone cut off the tabs on just one side of the roof? And how do I now fix it and not create a lopsided situation. The pictures are showing the one side tabs and other not.. and the last shows how it sags down with no support. (If you can even see that in the pics)
So I think I need triangles, Like in real houses! I will try and keep you posted, See you sooon!
Happy New Year! New year new printer, lots of projects! And a relization that its more fun to take everyone on the journey! Where are we going you ask?
My amazing parents found this Tennyson dollhouse and grabbed it up. It was full furniture and full sized christmas lights! However it did not have a proper base so all of the dry glue shattered when they moved it. Lots of little missing parts too!
I plan to post pictures of the rebuild. As well as new designs inspired by need :D Railings and corbels are great work for a 3d printer.
My lovely parents didn't stop there as you can see! There is 'still in box' furniture to unbox and build. AND a whole other house!
Oh and lets not forget the unfinished Westville and the spiral stairs pattern I was about to release when my printer broke!
Its going to be a lot of fun!
