A home designed around its trees.

Our Northwestern CLT House just got a beautiful write-up, and we're so proud of what this project represents. Ottawa's first residential home built with Cross Laminated Timber, sculpted around three protected trees, and designed to last 200 years.

Every decision came back to one question: can we make it better? Can we make it last longer?

The answer, every time, was yes.

We’re getting there with the beautiful custom home in Westboro. This house features a car lift in the garage, elevator, window walls, polished concrete floors with in-floor radiant heating, beautiful tile work, rounded feature elements like the coffee bar and a rooftop terrace with views onto the Gatineau Hills. Thanks to for their amazing work and to all the trades bringing this project to life 🧡

A New Chapter Begins with the Evergreen in Sandy Hill.

We’re thrilled to be the architects for a new residential development that just launched in the heart of Sandy Hill! It's our second project integrating a historic church into a new condo community.

Working closely with Windmill Development Group, we’re proud to share that this latest multi-residential development in Ottawa’s Sandy Hill neighbourhood is officially underway! As the architects behind this exciting new condo project, we’ve designed a contemporary building that complements the existing Heritage-designated (former) church while offering unique residences, generous terraces, and exceptional access to light and views.

This is not your typical infill. It's a bold yet respectful urban intervention, designed to elevate how people live in the city. Located on a prominent corner and integrated with a historic site, the new building features:

- A strong street presence with elegant massing and refined materiality
- Layered façades that respond to light and shadow
- A design that prioritizes livability, comfort, and connection to the surrounding community.

It’s a privilege to shape how our city evolves. We're honoured to be a part of the evolution.

We’re very pleased to welcome Euni to the Linebox Team! Euni is a Jr.Architectural Technologist, a graduate from Algonquin College and originally from Seoul, South Korea. After many years of travelling the world, Euni has decided to make Ottawa her home and we’re happy to have her on our team! Welcome Euni!

Every year, our team gets together for an offsite retreat to connect, unwind, and have fun. This year, we were on Lac Superieur in Mont Tremblant where we golfed, played lawn games, swam in the lake, and enjoyed meals together. These moments are crucial for us to recharge and get back to the roots of our passion: architecture and design. Feeling inspired and ready to create amazing spaces.

Echo Drive, 2018

The conceptual foundation for the design of Echo was the desire for the house to become an anchor in the community. It was also important to consider the character of the house in the context of the neighbourhood and its proximity to the iconic Rideau Canal.

This home was designed to be flexible, and capable of making a seamless transition from a private space to entertainment areas.

Highlights:
— A rooftop terrace overlooking the canal
— Large operable windows
— Brightly coloured glass washes the interiors with colour, even on those gloomy winter days
— Master suite features a soaker tub, lounge and private deck

Candid, 2014

This project was special from the beginning – even preliminary sketches were very promising. Its New Edinburgh neighbourhood dictates proportions and it settles into them quietly. Its red-brick melds in well with the surroundings, too. And while it fits in seamlessly, it stands solidly as an individual – a distinct personality.

We have so much fun when clients are open and willing to go BOLD. This home is lit up from the outside in with its brightly coloured vertical windows.

Highlights of the home:
— A central staircase linking all three floors with a series of colourful openings
— Twelve colouful openings within the walls of the central staircase
— Four colours used in the vertical windows
— A custom wood slide serving as an energy burner for the family’s three young sons and as a perfect track for toy cars
— Relocating the garage to create more space for gardens

Ce projet était particulier dès le début – même les esquisses préliminaires étaient très prometteuses. Son quartier de New Edinburgh lui dicte les proportions et il s’y installe tranquillement. Ses briques rouges s’intègrent également bien à l’environnement. Et même s’il s’intègre parfaitement, il se présente solidement en tant qu’individu – une personnalité distincte.

Nous nous amusons tellement lorsque les clients sont ouverts et prêts à faire preuve d’audace. Cette maison est éclairée de l’extérieur grâce à ses fenêtres verticales aux couleurs vives.

Points forts de la maison :
— Un escalier central reliant les trois étages avec une série d’ouvertures colorées
— Douze ouvertures colorées dans les murs de l’escalier central
— Quatre couleurs utilisées dans les fenêtres verticales
— Un toboggan en bois sur mesure servant de brûleur d’énergie pour les trois jeunes fils de la famille et de piste parfaite pour les petites voitures
— Déplacement du garage pour créer plus d’espace pour les jardins

Kirchoffer, 2018

Environmental concerns played a pivotal role in the design process – we were delighted with the client’s level of commitment to sustainability and minimizing the overall environmental impact of the home.

A LEED Platinum Home (LEED is the most widely used green building rating system in the world. Platinum is the highest rating attainable).

Personalizing the home:
— Piano is a cherished instrument for the family. The custom metal guardrail on the stair references the keys of a piano.
— This was our first project with a Tesla charging in the garage.
— The clients’ multiple interests include high tech, so Linebox was sure to incorporate a media and games room in the basement, as well as a virtual reality space and a dedicated music room.
— We extended the connection to outdoor life with a four season interior lounge.

We’re thrilled to announce that Micheal Pranger has been appointed a new role at the helm of Linebox Homes. Micheal is the new Managing Director of Linebox Homes.

Michael has been with Linebox since 2017 as a Senior Architectural Technologist and has been pursuing his architectural license through the RAIC Syllabus program. He’s worked on a wide breadth of project types including mixed-use, adaptive-reuse and timber frame construction. Residential homes design has always held a special place for Michael and as the new Managing Director of Linebox Homes, he will be able to focus entirely on his passion for residential design. It will be his life’s work and legacy as a designer.

We couldn’t be more excited to have Michael take on this work at Linebox Homes. He has the full support of the entire Linebox team and we know this venture will be a great success. We promise to keep you posted!
