I’ve been staying up past my bedtime lately to work on this artsy jacket.
I got a really cool patch by at the Faelight Market in the fall and it was just asking to be featured on a piece of clothing. So I bought a cheap jean jacket from VV and got started. Needle felting, stitching, more patches, cross stitch, scraps of fabric… no plan, just the creative urge pushing me to keep going. I added the very first piece of mindful stitching i made at ’s workshop, along with a piece of a bag I’d made as a kid to store my marble collection, plus a scrap from a dinosaur t-shirt my daughter never wore but that I liked.
I’m sure I’ll keep adding to the jacket as the inspiration comes, but it’s now reached a point that I feel is ready to wear out in public.

Should I make more of these…? I definitely had a lot of fun making this one!

Since I wasn’t able to bring my gnomes to yesterday’s market, I’m putting them up for adoption here!
From now until December 22nd, these gnomes will be available for only $10 each.
Pick up or delivery within Ottawa available, with a small delivery fee depending on where you are.
Give these adorable gnomes a good home for the Holidays!

Of course not everything I make is airy fairy artsy fartsy and full of meaning. Sometimes I’m just inspired by the season and I add my own touch of whimsy to the mix.

I’ve been working on a collection of mixed media soft sculptures over the past year, and today’s snowy day with a sick kiddo at home was the perfect excuse to pretty them up and take some pictures to share.
They will be available for purchase at this Saturday’s market at the Glebe Community Centre.

Here is a little more about these Felted Fae:
 
I began making these female figures in February 2025, as the new president was coming into office in the States. There was already a strong feeling that the world needed powerful feminine energy to counteract the reversal of progress in women’s rights and equality in the new political environment, and it felt good to have something to stab as I created these female figures, inspired by myth and legend.
Through my fiber art, I am reclaiming practices which are traditionally seen as “women’s work, handicrafts”, and using them to share a message of hope.
I also use reclaimed materials in my work, doing my small part to reduce and reuse materials which may otherwise end up in the landfill.
