Another red-oak mallet! That hole that you see is because this used to be another mallet that I made but wasn't quite happy with how it turned out or how it felt in the hand. Now this has got a really nice balance and heft to it! Good for a froe I think...

Red Oak maul I made for a friend who is a leather worker. It's made from an old baluster! I filled the head with steel pellets to give it a really nice heft.

Throwback to last year when I custom made these removable screen doors from iroko wood, treated with teak oil. Makes for cooler sleeping on the boat in the hot summer!

Why didn't I make them with teak? Well, it is illegal for Canadian companies to import teak directly from Myanmar since the military coup in 2021. Since Myanmar Timber Enterprise (MTE) controls all of it, the legal supply of genuine Burmese teak to Canada has been completely cut off. There are other low-quality plantation teak options, but iroko wood possesses many of the same robust qualities of premium teak.
