Happy International Women's Month! I grew up in Mississauga, my little brother played basketball since he was 7 years old we would go to AAU tournaments, played all over Canada & my parents found their life long friends through the game. Like many Filipinos in Canada ball is life. I've done so many things through APG, this one is so so special because it was so close to home, & another full circle moment for me in this life. Super honoured to have made this for the amazing women behind this league but also in Basketball. Big thank you to for making this happen and big love to 💖

2025 just started a few weeks ago & it already feels like a whole year packed into 2 weeks. In the midst of it all, sometimes you just need to find a moment to just chill. This candle will be irl only just like our Jacob Elordi candle last year (iykyk) I drew chill guy myself & the scent is literally ethereal. This candle will remind you to touch grass & get outside. I am super stoked about this one & honoured truly, low key tearing as I write this. You can grab some apg candles at the during the duration of the Pacita Abad exhibit soon 🥹

A long time ago I went to Frida Khalo's exhibit by myself in 2012 & bought a candle holder from a Mexican artist they had brought in for the shop. Through the years I often went to exhibits & one of my favorite things at the end was look at the curated goods that went along the exhibit by artisans, peruse through the art books. It truly is a full circle moment for me & I am so extremely proud.

In the spirit of Pacita's love of colour, for this exhibit I created (digitally painted!) a background to celebrate that. Big thank you to for getting these bbs in the proper rooms. Representation matters & I think I'm tearing up (happy tears!) thinking about my younger self because I legit never thought I'd see something I would create one day on those shelves. I started to make candles because I just wanted to make them for my dad & loved ones for the holidays. The amount of sweet messages you all have sent me through the years, how the candles have brought you comfort & ease in your homes. How your family loves them has honestly not only kept me going during some really hard days, but truly is the joy & honour of my life. Anyways, check out this beautiful exhibit by the amazing Pacita Abad & buy a candle at the AGO shop❤️

Come through to Borloloy Market this Saturday Nov 2nd 11am-5pm in celebration of Pacita Abad's exhibit at the AGO! organized by ❤️ this market is very very special as it not only celebrates this beautiful exhibit but also celebrates our Filipino culture & be amongst our pals & local Filipino small biz together.

Pacita Abad embodied the Philippine concept of borloloy, a Tagalog word that loosely translates to “excess ornamentation.” Abad joyfully lived a lifestyle reflective of her art practice, adorning her paintings, clothing, and surroundings with buttons, beads, mirrors, and cowrie shells.

The market is free to attend and located on the Concourse level of the AGO.
