Oh boy there’s some great new arrivals in the shop this week! Didn’t have time to get pics of everything but my all time favorite is of course a horse!!! This is a Whitney Reed platform glider rocking horse with original saddle and stirrups,original stencil decor on the rocking base.The horse is in good overall original condition, carving is so detailed look at his mouth! Original glass eyes and even the horse shoes on his hind feet are original- real horsehair mane and tail! C1905-1906.Don’t you just love him!
Next is this lovely c1900 farmhouse table with big drawer and lovely refinished pine top- perfect size for smaller space! And this game board is fun- great paint decoration not an antique but could sure add to cottage or farmhouse decor.And this is a large size c1850 firkin in its original paint- good and solid, finger style lapping, unfortunately missing one button but still useful! And here’s a cute little stool/ bench!and a c1860 pine 4 drawer chest of drawers with half spooled turnings, dovetailed drawers - overpainted so could easily be repainted! The white you see on the top is just paper so will easily come off . Here’s a couple of paddles which always make great camp decor and lastly tonight something way out of my norm but it turned up and I LOVE it! An original very large still life oil painting- I believe done with a palette knife as paint is very thick in some areas. The artist is a well known Hungarian artist who passed away in 2016- born in the 1930’s.Istvan Porubszky.you’ll find lots of info on him. I so love the vibrancy of the color palette ! Flowers in a vase is just an understatement!! It makes me smile . It’s a must see in person the pics really don’t do it justice- the painting itself is 29” by 39”, with frame is 40” by 50”

I realize I’m a tad late tonight but it was so nice working outside I just came in!! Lots of interesting fresh stock arrived this week at The Old Meeting House Antiques! Just look at this wonderful 1900’s bakers table!! It’s known as a “Possum Belly”style as the bottom drawers are fully rounded- one for flour and the other one is separated in two- sugar and who knows what else? Two drawers above and a slide out cutting board- one is missing! Nice old refinished top and original finish on the base and heavy turned leg- what a great centrepiece for your kitchen or as a work station or even coffee bar! Next is this 19th c handled dough bowl / trencher- fantastic solid condition with no cracks or chips- great size for any harvest table! There’s a slight green hint in a couple of the photos but it’s just a reflection from the plant, nothing on the bowl.And this early chopper is sooo unique! Look at the construction and form- very sharp edges and great age wear to the handle- from a private collection! And next is this very large native made splint basket with the best handcarved and notched out handles! In wonderful condition, good and solid- lovely original green banding- likely a NB basket! And I love how they saved this antique apple picking basket- lined in burlap so still useful!!and just a note the fabulous 3 drawer harvest table is looking for its home-thought it had sold but folks never showed so it’s someone’s good fortune!! Another coolish day but clear - lots of apple blossoms to still admire during this Apple Blossom Weekend! The Old Meeting House Antiques is open today 11-4 - just in this lovely collection of vintage Medalta pottery pieces and lots more!! Drop in for a browse!
