This is a cute idea!
That box of random puzzle pieces sitting in your closet just found a new purpose! With a little paint and creativity, you can transform old puzzle pieces into a spooky-cute piece of seasonal decor.
🛒 Supplies:
Old puzzle pieces
Acrylic paint (purple, black, orange, or your favorite Halloween colors)
Canvas or wood board
Paintbrushes
Hot glue gun + glue sticks
Pencil (optional for sketching your design)
How to make it:
1. Gather your puzzle pieces
Use leftover puzzle pieces from an old puzzle, thrift store find, or one that’s missing pieces. The more random the shapes, the more unique your design will look!
2. Paint your puzzle pieces
Separate the pieces into color groups and paint them in your Halloween palette. Try shades like witchy purple, deep black, bright orange, or even metallics for extra detail.
3. Plan your design
Before gluing, arrange your painted pieces on your canvas to create your shape. For this project, the pieces are layered into a fun witch hat design — but you could also create pumpkins, ghosts, bats, or a fall wreath!
4. Layer and glue the pieces
Start at the bottom of your design and work your way up, overlapping pieces to create texture and dimension. Secure each piece with hot glue once you like the placement.
5. Add the finishing touches
Use extra puzzle pieces to create details like:
🧡 A buckle on the hat
🖤 A hat band
💜 A colorful border
🎃 Small Halloween accents
6. Display your new artwork
Add your finished canvas to a mantel, shelf, entryway table, or gallery wall for a handmade Halloween touch.
