50 Years. 50 Years of Stories. ❤️
For our final story, we're bringing it full circle. And this one is a little closer to our hearts.
Decades ago, Jack Pannu was making headlines as the new manager of City Furniture in Quesnel. Fast forward to 2024, and his daughter Parveen was making headlines of her own as Quesnel's Business Person of the Year.
But there's a whole lot of life between those two newspaper clippings.
Jack & Rami came to Canada not knowing the language, let alone the ins and outs of business. What they did have was determination, a strong work ethic, and the courage to build a life in a new country.
Together, they raised a family, made countless sacrifices, and built something they could be proud of. It wasn't easy, but they never stopped working toward a better future.
And little did Jack know, one day his daughter would be right there beside him.
The funny part? Parveen spent years insisting she would NEVER end up running the family business. 🫠 That aged well. 😂
The little girl who grew up watching her parents work long hours, got dragged to every weekend sale (and was the best 7 year old salesperson), who swore she'd never follow in their footsteps, somehow ended up back here.
Today, theres two generations working side by side. Two strong personalities, plenty of brainstorming, and the occasional disagreement. (Rami deserves an award for putting up with both of them and their constant work chat. 😂)
But underneath it all is a shared love for family, their business, and the community that has supported them for so many years.
There's something pretty special about parents watching their kids help carry forward what they worked so hard to build. And something even more special about a daughter realizing just how much she could learn from the man she once swore she'd never work for.
What started with 2 teenagers arriving in a country where they didn't speak the language has become a legacy carried forward by the next generation. ❤️
As we close out our 50 Years of Stories series, we want to thank our employees, customers, and community. You've all played a part in making City Furniture what it is today.
50 years of stories. Two generations. One family. And the best chapters are still being written. ❤️
