Beginner Wool Applique coming to Mad About Patchwork in Stittsville!
Hey all...those friends that want to know how you get up and going with fabulous Wool Handwork....

They can call Ali at the store to sign up for an evening workshop.

Learn the basics, how to prep your design, fusibles and stabilizer tidbits, a few basic but most used stitches, while we work on a fun Sue Spargo project. African Marula finishes at just 25 x 28 inches, uses modern cottons for the background and border, then yummy wool for tree trunk, bird, leaves and fruits.

You can prep your background ahead or you will get help to choose a background fabric at class time. Lots of wool and thread will be available at that time for you to choose from.
Have some fun while learning how easy this craft is.

If you are working on a wool project, it is great to get with likeminded “handworkers” to share and tell.

Salebarn day and my Marula tree has put on a few miles... we brought over a load last night here to cobden , and I stitched on “Petroli” thats the name of my “sue spargo” bird.
I tell you those mini battery desk lights and a serving tray have served me well!

Oct 1st... happy Fall!
Leaves falling, lots calves arriving at the salebarn today. Shorter days. Hunting season. Pumpkins picked. Cold mornings. Smell of corn silage.

A Grateful Day!..my cows came when I called “milking time” this morning...I got supper out last night after delivering cattle to Cobden....I found my phone....my family is healthy....I had a FABULOUS time at Fibrefest in Almonte this past weekend...clients, students and fellow vendors were great.
And...
I am happy to be going to Mad About Patchwork this Thursday Sept 12....
To teach my Wool Appliqué Group and celebrate with Alison...and wish her well at the Open House and Grand Opening at MAP.

June is here.....
Last night I was just pretending...it was warm. Put on my hoodie, blanket and sat outside..
Well there was no bugs!!!

On the creative front....I am looking forward to going to see Quilt Canada at the EY centre next week!
Just like the Ploughing Match. Quilt Canada opens in a different Canadian city each year....and this year it is Ottawa!
For those of you that think Quilts are Quilts...you would not believe the creativity that Makers can make out of Fibres!
"What Constitutes a Quilt"? Well you may be surprised.
This is a worthwhile venue to visit.
Why don't you come by?

I’m going to miss the group this weekend.
The folk village will not be vending at this event🌺
Ottawa Valley Quilters Guild has their 2019 show May 10,11,12 at City View Curling Club.
Lots of quilts and ....yes.....vendors.
Wishing all a good weekend!
Loading the truck with calves .....got my stitching packed....got to keep ahead of my students....lol, not a chance.
It’s Salebarn Day!

Every month myself and my Wool Appliqué groups have been welcomed, accommodated and inspired.
The students are many, We are sometimes loud, and we kind of just “ move in” as though we are meant to be there🙂.
Both shops offer different genres.... Mad about Patchwork is so very modern with fresh and new fabrics, lots of lighting for our “hand work”! Lots of fresh Essex Linens that marries well with modern wool Appliqué projects!
Country Quilter houses 2 classrooms with classic style fabrics and a small mix of contemporary mixed in. Coffee and tea is always on, snacks on the counter, and most everyone knows each other!
We are always most welcome.
Just sayin all! 🌷💐🌹🥀🌺🌿

Eco friendly “wool” shoes!!!
Quilter and Student Grace brought me an Easter gift yesterday during classes in Richmond. She and her sister Wilma thought I ought to have “real wool” shoes just because....wonder why.
Easter colours...shoes, wool, Valdani...
Fabulous class yesterday with a wonderful, lively group. Thank you ladies.
