It is that time of year again, but I have made some changes to the classes. This year I want to focus on teaching more hand-building skills!

We will hand-sculpt different pieces using varying techniques, work with slip-casting, and because your kiddos love the results I am keeping paper mache sculpting in the program!

Make sure you sign up! I will be posting calendars for each month so you can get a glimpse at the project coming up.

Art classes start September 8th, so make sure you register to get all the creativity flowing!

**Note the new time slots too, 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm!

As promised I have cleaned up my table and I wanted to share it with you. I'm really excited to have a clean space again. Yes, I know, the rest of the spaces are messy. But, you know what, that's one big task for me to have done. I'm very busy. I was also in the middle of running my kiln and pouring some pieces and organizing paperwork. There are so many things that I have on the go. So, it's nice to just have a clean space, even if it's a small one! Thank you so much for following along, and I hope you have a lovely day!

I'm popping on here to squickly to share the messy areas that I have to take care of today! Sometimes life gets busy and my creativity gets away from me and piles up everywhere. And then I have to worry about it later and hammer down on it. Today is that day! I have decided I need to take control again and get my tables cleared. So that I can use them properly and not feel crowded again. I'll pop on again later when it's been taken care of! Thank you for watching! Have a lovely day!

Apparently last night I forgot that I had a mould left to pull, and well, let's just say I don't live close enough to run over to the shop and pull it out.

This video shows you a little bit of what can happen when you forget about a mould that is setting with slip inside. The slip will build up and be uneven on the inside. Sometimes, depending on the size of the mold, it will still be wet in the very centre. The outer layers and bottom area will be thicker and mire set. There is also a chance that the clay will start to collapse on itself from the weight.

I feel like I got away lucky this time because this was a small mold, so there wasn't that much extra build up inside. Also, nothing pulled apart from being too wet!

I guess an important takeaway from this is to remember that if I have a mould that is setting to maybe set a timer or tie a ribbon around my finger. I'm not sure what will work for you but usually timers work for me. Of course, I didn't set a timer that time! 😅

For about 5 years, I've been taking these wonderful mountain pieces that I love to paint over to a store in Waterton Park, called My Sister's Room, and I love having my products there! It is a marvelous shop with all kinds of handmade items. When I first started out, I purchased the skulls from the previous owner who made the ceramics. And now I get to make them myself and carve fancy details in them and make changes as I see fit. I absolutely love how these turned out! Thank you for watching. Have a lovely day!
