Roman shades are one of those window coverings that can completely change the feel of a room — adding softness, texture and a beautifully tailored finish without the fullness of drapery.

But there’s more to choosing one than simply picking a colour. The fabric, fold style, lining, light control and fit all play a part in how your finished shade will look and function in your home.

From softly filtered daylight to added privacy or room darkening, custom Roman shades are designed around your window, your space and the way you live.

Not sure where to start? That’s where we come in. 🤎

A little more about us 🤎

Mel & Raegan may work side by side, but their preferences aren’t always the same — and that’s part of what makes R & M, R & M.

From dark vs. light wood and closed cabinetry vs. a mix, to the things they completely agree on (cozy always wins 🙌), their individual styles bring a different perspective to every space.

Swipe through to see where they agree, where they don’t, and get to know the women behind R & M a little better.

Fore the ladies… and apparently gravity. ⛳️🎀

Raegan & Mel joined forces with friends to hit the course for the first annual Fore the Ladies Golf Tournament at Haunted Lakes Golf Club, raising funds in support of breast cancer and Parkinson research. 💗💜

And because a normal foursome simply wouldn’t do, The Saggy Birdies showed up as Perky Patty, Droopy Doris, Lopsided Lucille and Hot Flash Helen — complete with grey wigs, pearls, pink visors and a whole lot of personality. ⭐️

Such a fun day filled with laughs, golf and support for two incredibly meaningful causes.

Custom window coverings are about more than choosing something that looks good.

They’re designed around your windows, your space, and how you actually live in it — from privacy and light control to fabric, function, hardware and the finishing details that make everything feel intentional.

And because every home is different, custom gives you the flexibility to create a solution that feels considered from every angle.

At R & M Modern Home, we help you sort through the options and find what works beautifully for your space — now and for years to come.

Custom drapery is about more than choosing a fabric — the way it’s constructed changes how it hangs, moves and feels in the room.

From tailored pleats and clean ripple folds to relaxed rod pockets and simple flat panels, each style creates a completely different look.

And while personal style matters, the right choice also comes down to the window itself, the fabric, the hardware, the function of the room and how you want the space to feel.

That’s where custom makes the difference.
