‘Growth Requires Change’ - Jynae and I’s first ever sand sculpture won people’s choice and sculptors choice! Thank you Seaside Sand Fest 🤯

Technically speaking there were two different classes competing: advanced amateurs (that would be us) and the masters, but we got the most votes overall between both classes!

On top of all that, I also won the double elimination quick carve tournament. The competitors had ten minutes to carve a 5 gallon bucket worth of sand into whatever the crowd shouted out. I carved a frog, a skull with pirate hat, a crab eating an ice cream cone, and an axolotl riding a surfboard. What a fun challenge!

Feeling incredibly blessed to have met so many new inspiring friends and to have spent the week playing in the sand with the love of my life 🙌 Art & Airplanes

I am absolutely chuffed to bits to have received carvers choice and first place for my piece ‘Catch of Contention’. This was my first time carving at the clash of the carvers in Libby Montana. What a wild ride! It worked out to 26 hours on our main piece over the course of 3-1/2 days with one 90 minute quick carve each day.

They were going for a rustic farm aesthetic with the Raven paying homage to the family heritage.

Powell River 2026, this is my piece titled “In the thick of it” inspired by the mission statement of a local clothing/design company. Tickled to have placed 1st for the 4th year here and to have been able to do it with Jynae as my assistant Art & Airplanes it’s about damn time you picked up a sander! 😆😘

Congrats to Shea Larking on a well deserved 2nd place for his dragon and Stephanie Penner for her 3rd place moose.

The journey of life is never an easy climb. We should not look for an instant path or a false-footed one. Hard journeys always lead us to a better vantage point with a view and confidence that no one can take away. When times get hard, remember you are not alone, and to plant your feet and thoughts into where you want to be. Times today have become very distracting; find your way through your authentic journey and learn from all the hard spots that teach us wisdom. Nature always has a beautiful way to quiet our space and think clearly again. Thick finds inspiration in that of the above.

1. Lush n THICK backcountry of Powell River! Full of mountains, lakes, and trails. Endless explorations await you.
2. Need a THICK skin to reach your goals and push through life. It will be tough, stay focused and ignore the mainstream. Lead your own way.
3. We’re never fully ready to start anything. You must just jump into the THICK of it and go do it. And with every setback, you must get back up, no matter how many times, and get right back into the THICK OF IT!

‘The Clever and the Cunning’

Absolutely floored to have taken third place this year at the 20th anniversary ‘clash of the champions’ in Chetwynd. The level of skill across the field was incomparable to anything I’ve participated in before.

Huge congratulations to every carver, I did not envy the judges job. Specifically though Brandon Kroon for a well deserved hat trick; carvers choice, people’s choice, and first place! Also Chris Foltz for second place.

Huge thanks to the town of chetwynd, all the organizers and volunteers who make this event happen. Jesse Toso for coming out and being an absolute stellar assistant, thank you so much 🙏

Ravens and wolves hold an iconic symbiotic relationship. Ravens will often lead wolves to prey so they can feed off the scraps after wolves have torn through thick hide. They even play games of tail chasing with each other and develop individual friendships.
