Boulder Flats – Building Permit Submitted

Boulder Flats, our duplex development for Le Fevre & Company in Revelstoke's Big Eddy neighbourhood, has been submitted for building permit, with Appenzell Construction set to build. Phase one brings twelve homes to the neighbourhood across six duplex buildings.

One plan layout is repeated across all six buildings, with two exterior design options. Each home is 1,400 sq ft over two storeys, with three bedrooms, two full baths, a powder room, and a recreation garage. At the rear, a covered patio opens onto a generous private yard.

Metal and cementitious vertical cladding is paired with timber accents and a touch of colour at each entry, giving every home its own identity.

Columbia Cabin - Shelter Bay, BC

Columbia Cabin is a small retreat on a remote lot in Shelter Bay, British Columbia, overlooking the Columbia River and the mountains beyond. At approximately 66 sqm, it is modest in size but open to its surroundings. A covered patio equal in area to the interior wraps two and a half sides of the building and hosts weekly yoga classes, and every primary room opens directly outside. At the rear, the covered patio shelters a hot tub.

Exposed cross-laminated timber panels and glulam beams form both structure and interior finish. The building is wrapped in exterior wood fiber insulation and clad in Douglas-fir, chosen to weather naturally in the forest and river valley. Built to Step Code 5, the cabin is heated and cooled by an all-in-one heat pump and laundry unit alongside electric in-floor heating, keeping energy use minimal.
