The Arts of Mysthaven

The Arts of Mysthaven Alcohol ink paintings and other artistic endeavours. Covid hit and inks filled my spare time. Then it filled my imagination.

first learned about inks in 2019 from a local lady Wanda Knoss, that gave a day's lesson, and I fell in love with the medium. Alcohol ink is not light fast, but my tiles have been sprayed with a UV protectant to stabilize them. Do not place in direct or very bright light. They also have several layers of a clear coating that will allow damp wiping, but they will scratch with rough handling.

two more Christmas in October paintings. this one is on painted masonite board. it is more frustrating because it stains a great deal. I can't bring highlights back to white. So it takes more preplanning. Just practice for when I get around to trying watercolours? at least with water colours I can mask places that I want white. Masking fluid doesn't work with the alcohol inks, the alcohol dissolves the masking fluid. But one good thing about the staining is that I can remove the heavier lines that result from moving the inks. the bad part is the overlays get muddy fast.

another in the round.. still have a few tweaks to do. but it is coming along. on Yupo paper. the second photo is with the tweaks. A little more shadow under the tree canopy, a reworking of the central foliage on the ground.

on Yupo. I kind of like it... but it is missing something in the space between the windows? I am toying with the idea ...
