We're a mother/daughter team with a passion for our art! Cross stitch & needlepoint supplies & advice Welcome to our page! If you're a stitcher, you get it!

We called our needlecraft business Magic Hour in recognition of all those stitchers who have to wait till their last meeting is done, their last customer is cared for, the kids are in bed, and whatever else is on your plate, to finally sit down for that "magic hour" of peace and quiet when needle and thread meet fabric.

Hello, everyone! Well, the weather is chilly, and the days are getting short. The sweet aroma of pumpkin spice is wafting throughout the land, and turkeys everywhere are getting worried. We are looking forward to some downtime with family, so please remember we are CLOSED this coming Sunday.

We are open our regular hours until then, so if you're eager to get started on that warm sweater or hat, or need some goodies for your Halloween cross stitch, come on in! We're open Wed Thurs Fri 10 am to 5 pm, and Saturday 10 am till 3 pm.
109 Welland Avenue, St. Catharines, ON

See you soon!

Good morning, Happy Stitchers! We'll be in the shop as usual, enjoying some knitting time in the Happy Stitching Lounge, and you're invited! I'll be bringing my Fall Shawl with me, so if you'd like to see what all the buzz is about, come on in!
We are at 109C Welland Avenue, and we're open 10 to 3 Saturdays and Sundays.
See you there!

Please read the details of the upcoming Fall Shawl KAL in the infosheet. It will be a great KAL for knitters who are already adept and knitting and purling!
If you're wanting to register for the Wednesday class, just come on into the shop on Wednesday morning at 9:30 and we'll take care of you!

09/04/2026

Everything you need to know is right here. Don't delay - this class will fill up fast! Finished well before Christmas.

08/30/2026

Details of the KAL and other classes to follow next week!

08/21/2026

We've had lots of interest in the upcoming KAL, and I am excited to bring it into the Lounge on Saturday to show it off! I've got about half the length done (or maybe a bit more), and I am loving every stitch!
Come on in and see what we'll be working on! We will be releasing the details next week, and starting in early September.

08/16/2026

As summer winds down and we all prepare for the pumpkin-spice floods, which will be a nice change from actual floods!, Magic Hour is preparing some awesome autumn events for you!
- Newbie Knitters classes will be starting around mid-September. You can learn to knit in time to make a Christmas present or two!
- Toe-up socks class will also be running at that time. We'll be making warm woolly socks for winter. They make a great Christmas gift, too!
- We'll be offering a KAL (Knit Along) and will be creating a beautiful multi-texture shawl in autumn colours. You're not going to want to miss this one!
- The Silent Reading Group is still on Friday mornings at 9 am. Come in with your book, and just sit and read quietly for an hour or so. It's a peaceful way to finish your week. Coffee will be ready!
- And of course the Happy Stitching Lounge will be available for people come in and lounge and stitch happily while they drink coffee and chat with other stitchers. All needlecrafters welcome!

Looking for a cool place to chill out? The Happy Stitching Lounge is open whenever we are!
Bring your needlecraft project and settle in for a coffee, chat with other needlecrafters, and browse our great selection of yarns, cross stitch fabrics and other goodies. A great way to escape the heat for a while.

Happy Canada Day, everybody!
I'm happy to tell you that I'm feeling much better and I will be back in the shop as usual next week. I might come in on Sunday just to sit and knit. I miss our shop!
Please note that we will be closed on Wednesday, JULY 1ST, because of Canada Day. Celebrate this fantastic country, and enjoy some family time! The weatherman is promising great things!

So sorry people! I'm laid up with pneumonia for at least this week. But that's okay! Serena is a real trooper, and would love to see things carrying on even if I'm not there, and so would I. So yes, the shop is open! Come and knit swatches! Sit'n knit in the lounge! Come for the sweater class! I'll be back as soon as I can.
