It’s been awhile since I’ve posted on here, and like most, I’ve been following where inspiration takes me.
I found myself back at my sewing machine - wanting to sew a blanket, but just not sure of what I wanted to sew or what material to use.
Pictured is something I’ve completed awhile back - a blue jean appliqué reverse denim quilt.

This denim quilt idea actually started with something very special - my vintage button tin.
It was my grandmas, then my mom’s and now mine. My button tin, may be just buttons to one, but they are all special to me.
If you know, you know.

Every once in a while, I open it up and admire all the detail in those older buttons - the shapes, textures, colors and designs.
That’s where the inspiration came from to make this blanket for someone special.

I had some denim set aside, and started playing — bleaching their dried flowers into the fabric, then using those vintage buttons as the centers. From there it just grew into frayed denim flowers and became this quilt.

Funny how something so simple as buttons, can spark a whole idea.

It’s been a minute since I’ve posted. My latest project.
My third attempt is going more smoothly and seems tape is my friend on this project. It’s keeping the beads from moving and tangling up my lines.
If at first you don’t succeed, try again.
Happy I finally figured this out.

I think this is one Homer approved in a copper lined tumbler that will keep a bevy cold for hours if it lasts that long in the cup.
