Internal condensation is a very common issue for Vancouver Island homeowners right now, for a couple of reasons.
1️⃣ Our winter season is wet. Internal condensation indicates a humidity issue in your home, likely due to poor ventilation and/or moisture seeping in from outside. Indoor activities such as cooking and showering also add moisture to the air.
2️⃣ Condensation is caused by warm air (which holds more moisture) coming into contact with the colder glass surface. During the winter, this temperature difference between inside (warm) and outside (cooler) is most prominent
So, what can you do about it?
A simple dehumidifier can reduce condensation and also help to manage the risk of mould and mildew. Other ventilation options include a fan or opening a door or window for about 20 minutes every day to help increase airflow.
