I finally walked across the stage with a degree to my name and wearing my most special knit to date!

I started knitting in my first semester of university, so it feels incredibly full circle to have made my graduation dress to celebrate the journey that brought me here.
When I first started university 6 years ago, I was at a different school, in a different program, and still had so much to discover about the world and myself. While I learned many lessons in the classroom and through the grit it takes to complete a degree while navigating the many seasons and responsibilities of life, knitting has been a constant companion and one of the greatest teachers throughout it all.
What began with a few stitches in blue and gray bulky weight acrylic yarn has opened my mind and heart in ways I never could have expected. Through knitting, I’ve met so many kind and uplifting friends, explored the depths of my creativity, tested my patience, been introduced to people, communities, ideas, and knowledge I may never have encountered otherwise, and been a source of reflection, meditation, and joy.
This dress is a testament to a craft and a community that I love so dearly ❤️
