How does heated floor installation work in a bathroom? 😉

Here’s a quick look at part of the process.

Before anything gets covered, I test and document the system — checking the heating cable, sensors, grounding, and overall performance to make sure everything is working properly from the start.

One thing I do during installation is add a backup floor sensor along with the main one. If the main sensor ever stops working in the future, the backup can simply be connected without removing tile or opening the floor.

After testing, the heating cable is installed over the prepared membrane and secured in place. The system is then properly covered with thinset before tiling for added protection and a more reliable installation.

Most people only see the finished tile, but a lot of the important work happens underneath it.

Finishing details matter too.👇

One of the last steps I do after tile installation is applying silicone between the floor and baseboard.

In many Canadian homes, natural movement in the structure can cause grout to crack or fall out over time. Silicone helps prevent that while keeping the transition cleaner and smoother.

It’s a small detail, but details like this help the final result last longer and look better.
