Abstract Artist
Inspired by the Movement and Layers in Nature Art became Rebecca’s therapy, a place to escape, play and challenge herself.

Rebecca’s move to the Pacific Northwest from the UK brought a change in lifestyle, a new environment and new-found inspiration. The rugged landscapes and stunning vistas of the Coastal Mountains and Shoreline have become the focus of her art work. During her earlier years, studying Art at Loughborough University, composition was always a keen interest and strength in her visual communication, and she found a great sense of fulfilment in a hands-on approach. Designing new layouts in her sketchbook, shifting and placing various layers across a blank canvas and combining them with the elements in nature. Building fractal patterns and emotive imagery, merging them with geometric shapes and translating them to raw prints. She wanted to create artwork that reflected her passion for all of this.

I really wanted this piece to feel like standing in front of a dramatic Pacific Northwest vista, a sense of movement, scale and the forces that are constantly shaping the landscape.

The brushwork carves through the fluid fields of colour, much like water flows through, in and around land formations; slowly weathering and reshaping them over time.

I’d love to hear what this piece brings up for you, and I hope this work invites you to pause, look closely and feel the landscape moving through it. :)

ONE WEEK TO GO!!
Very excited to be back at Interior Design Show Interior Design Show Vancouver Vancouver this September as part of COLLECT. :)

Living and working in Squamish I love getting out of my studio once in a while and this is always something I look forward to, not only as an opportunity to share new work, but to catch up, exchange ideas and spend time with the wider creative community and of course have a good old chin wag!. :))

I’ve been working on a new body of work over the last month, an evolution of my Soft Fascination series, taking a more intuitive and gestural approach to movement and stillness within the natural landscape. Spending time outside in nature is part of my daily practice, so you’ll likely see and feel its presence at the core of my work.

Looking forward to bringing it all together and sharing in person. 😊

I’m so happy to share that 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐑𝐞𝐦𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐬 and 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐄𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐬 are now officially available on my website 🤍

What Remains explores the space between observation and memory…fragments of place, colour and feeling that stay with us.

What Endures is its quieter companion….softer and more atmospheric, reflecting on what lingers long after a moment has passed.

I’m also really proud to have What Remains featured in House & Garden UK House & Garden Magazine 🇬🇧 this month.

Both collections are now available to view online, and if you’d like to see the work in person, studio visits are always welcome here in Squamish.

So happy to deliver Liminal to its new home on Bowen Island 🌊

This piece sold during What We Carry / What Carries Us, and there’s something particularly fitting about knowing it gets to stay on the island where it was shown.

A lovely ending to the exhibition, and the beginning of a new chapter for this piece. 🤍

I’m so delighted to be part of this beautiful group exhibition alongside Eileen Kiyonaga Artworks and Brent Comber , bringing together work that explores our relationship with the natural world - what we gather from it, what stays with us, and the ways it continues to shape and carry us.

I’m showing new work from my What Remains / What Endures series, which considers the lasting impressions of time spent in nature; fragments of place, shifting light, colour and sensory memories that remain with us long after we’ve left.

It’s been such a pleasure seeing the work come together in the gallery, and I wanted to share a few photographs from the space.

For the past few months I’ve been quietly immersed in a new body of work.

I’m excited to share that the first glimpse of my new series, 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐑𝐞𝐦𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐬, will be shared for the first time later this month as part of What We Carry / What Carries Us at The Hearth Gallery | The Bowen Theatre The Hearth Gallery on Bowen Island.

This exhibition marks the beginning of the journey for the series, with the full collection to be released later this summer.
