A Story in Every Stitch | Meet the Maker 🧶
At Hillhead House, we believe that the most special things often carry a story.
That’s why we’re so proud to partner with local Makers & Merchants - a wonderful collection of artisans whose hands, creativity and stories add a little piece of Newfoundland and Labrador to the Shop on Prescott.
This week, we’re wandering down the road to Woody Point, where Molly of Molly Made Fibre Art creates beautiful coaster and rug-hooking kits inspired by the places, characters and traditions that make Newfoundland and Labrador so special.
Molly’s work is about more than creating something lovely. It’s about remembering and reminiscing about the familiar shapes and stories of this wonderful province of ours. A Saltbox House. A Puffin. Or perhaps the group of Mummers who dropped by for a kitchen party.
Each design celebrates the artistry of traditional rug hooking while helping to keep this beautiful Newfoundland and Labrador craft alive for another generation.
Everything you need to create your own project is tucked inside, along with detailed instructions, and what begins as a simple collection of wool and canvas slowly becomes something entirely your own - a little piece of Newfoundland and Labrador made by your hands.
With Christmas quietly making its way closer (we are now in the “ber” months so it isn’t all that far away 🤪) these would make such thoughtful gifts. Because what could say “I made this especially for you” better than something handcrafted with time, patience and love?
Although… we should probably warn you.
Once you finish it, you may find yourself rather reluctant to give it away. 😉
