Artist Statement

My goal is to create work that connects with you, uplifts you and comforts you as you use it. There is raw emotion that goes into the hours of hand labour involved in each pot. Always, I set positive intention before a long day in the studio that each pot will bring joy to any hand that touches it. I first fell in love with pottery when I saw a black, non-traditional mug 10 years

ago. Today, I am creating my own pieces, each with their own purpose and message. My work is based primarily on practicality; therefore a lot of my inspiration comes from necessity. Forms that are used in everyday life, touched by nature inspired texture and design. The texture gives lift, dimension and life to any piece, while the connection to nature keeps us grounded. The glaze colours I choose accent that texture to truly show its beauty. Pottery is a way for me to use my love of working with my hands to pull together everything I stand for; family, grounding, simplicity, strength, patience, collaboration, perseverance and peace.

Fall wheel classes are here!!!! 🎃

Participants will learn the art of “throwing” on the wheel, starting with a basic cylinder & bowl. These cylinders and bowls can then be altered into many different shapes and functions. You will learn to trim your pieces, decorate and finish your work with beautiful glazes.

Students will also receive a brief introduction to handbuilding when adding handles and altering basic, thrown shapes. Examples of altered forms: citrus juicer, appetizer tray, chip & dip platter, vase, berry bowl, butter dish, and so much more!

No experience necessary, all levels welcome.

By the end of 6 weeks you will have a minimum of 8-10 pieces to take home.

$365+ tax
Includes all materials, tools, glazes, and firings.

Have you been wanting to try the pottery wheel? Here’s your chance! Our upcoming Bowl & Cup Workshop is a fun, hands-on way to get creative with clay ✨

You’ll be guided step by step as you make two small bowls or cups, then choose your favourite glaze colour to personalize your pieces. Our Zenfire staff will fire your creations, and your finished goodies will be ready for pickup within 4–6 weeks.

All materials, tools, glazes and firings are included.
$85 + tax

Zenfire owner, Angela, will guide you through using larger amounts of clay, getting more out of your clay, experimenting with more complex forms, and creating sets of the same size.

This class is perfect for those who have take at least 2 beginner wheel classes and feel comfortable centring 1lb (or more) of clay.
