Round 2 🫣

Forgot to tighten the CNC bit... Wood's not cheap. Pride's cheaper.

Thankfully I was watching the OnefinityCNC when it took its first plunge into the wood and it sounded off. Then I noticed it was really chewing in the wasteboard!

Three bits. One job done right. 🪵

3/8", 1/4", and 1/8" Jenny compression bits — sized against my hand so you know what you're working with.

Loaded the 3/8" up and sent it through walnut. Glass-smooth edges top and bottom, zero tearout. Once it's dialed in, it cuts like butter.

Compression bits are the move for plywood and hardwood when you want clean faces on both sides — no sanding the top, no blowout underneath.

Well that looks like it hurt 😬

Took an end mill straight into my aluminum clamp. CNC Bit's done. Clamp's done. Lesson learned.

Switched to MilesCraft hold down clamps and the difference is immediate — that rounded groove actually applies clamping force the way it should. Excited to try the in line clamps l, that I've been wanting for so long, to make it easier for flattening slabs or uneven surfaces. Both of these clamps are also meant for the mini T track size (1/4" 20) which fits perfect in my QCW table 👌

Am I an artist? Some people say no. 🎨
This isn't even a project — I'm just surfacing my wasteboard. Regular CNC maintenance.
But this is what the work actually looks like behind the scenes. No paint, no brushes — just making sure the machine is dialed in so everything I create comes out perfect.
So tell me: if the process is this technical, does that make it less art?
