On Friday, November 6th, join us at The Grove in Stratford for a full day of cozy holiday sewing.

Little hands will stitch their very own Christmas ornaments, and every one goes home with them, ready for the tree.

As I was sitting in the kitchen this morning, I thought about this saying… ⬆️

I was having breakfast on our messy counter when I saw the reflection of our window on the refrigerator door.

It struck me as a beautiful reminder we can choose what we see (never disregarding the acknowledgement of the privileges we carry though).

And I wanted to share that with you as a gentle nudge to practice that on your daily lives as well.

Hey there, let me share something:

I learned to sew when I was 11 years old, at school. It started as a class and turned into a lifelong love, hobby and, eventually, my job!

But I do remember how intimidating starting something new can be as an adult... And that's why I launched this program!

Sew, Let's Lunch! is a 6-week sewing club for adults who want to learn a real skill, meet lovely people, and carve out one hour or two a week that is just for them.

Come as you are and we will meet you there!

Have you ever watched a child slow down and truly focus?

✨ Hand sewing does that ✨

In a world full of screens and instant everything, giving kids a needle and thread is a quiet act of resistance. It teaches them that beautiful things take time — and that they are capable of making them!

A few things hand sewing builds in little ones:
🧵 Fine motor skills — those tiny stitches are serious brain + hand work!
🧵 Patience and focus — no shortcuts here, and that’s the whole point
🧵 Problem-solving — a knot, a mistake, a seam that doesn’t quite line up… and then figuring it out
🧵 Pride in making — there’s nothing like the look on a child’s face when they finish something they made with their own hands (as you can see on Oliver’s face at the end of the video 🥹)

If you’ve been thinking about introducing your child to sewing, start simple: A big needle, chunky thread, and a piece of felt can go a long way.
