🚨 FLOOR LEVELING MATTERS 🚨
Here are some pictures of an extreme example of what an unlevel subfloor can look like underneath a floating floor installation.
This is one of the hardest conversations we have to have with customers because floor leveling is often the only “extra” cost that can come up during a flooring project. Unfortunately, it is also one of the MOST important parts of making sure your new floor performs properly long term.
With floating floors, the flooring itself can only handle a certain amount of movement and variation underneath it. If the subfloor is not level and proper prep is not completed, the floor can separate, flex, bounce, crack, or completely fail over time. Once a floating floor starts coming apart from movement, it is typically NOT repairable without major work.
⚠️ Important:
Floor leveling usually CANNOT be fully quoted until:
• The existing flooring is removed
• The subfloor is exposed
• The floor is properly assessed with leveling tools
This is why reputable flooring companies assess leveling after demolition and before installation. We know it’s not always the easiest conversation, but we would rather protect your investment than leave you with a failed floor later.
At Floor Envy, we follow industry standards and best practices to ensure your flooring lasts properly for years to come.
