The July and August drop-in stained glass classes at Wazison Arts are now live on the Wazison Arts website!

The theme for these months is: In the Backyard. Think bugs, gardens, and barbecues.

These drop-ins are 100% beginner friendly and a perfect introduction to the stained glass artform. This is TRUE stained glass where we will be cutting glass and working with various hot soldering irons and chemicals so participants must be 14+.

We are getting our July and August drop-in patterns ready to go. The theme will be “In the Backyard”. Think Barbecues and bugs :)

Making stained glass doesn’t end when you finish soldering it together. To complete a piece you need to thoroughly wash the flux and remove any oxidization during the soldering process. You can then add patina if you want to change the colour of the solder then you want to polish/wash the final piece to maintain shine.

Wazison Arts in Thunder Bay offers drop-in stained glass classes if you’ve ever wanted to learn this medium. This is TRUE stained glass. No resin, no wood, no AI patterns. You can expect a drop-in session to take 3 to 4 hours to complete a beginner project.

Our 5-week panel students are on week 3 of their individual stained glass panel projects.

So far we’ve covered glass selection and colour theory, using the differing opacities and textures of glass to create depth in a piece, cutting harder and easier shaping, and grinding to fit.

Got the front half of this panel done today. It’ll be lovely seeing it finished and in the light tomorrow.
