2 hours of soldering done after the studio closed. Working on restocking suncatchers after BuskersFest.

Reinstalled the repair :)

Overall this project was 20 hours of work including window removal, removing the damaged channel, cleaning the glass, cutting new channel, soldering joints, puttying (whiting powder to speed up the drying process but super messy), cleaning, and reinstalling. Just waiting on some brass patina to darken the original channel.

The last photo is what the client originally sent me when they were inquiring about whether I could repair the window.

Repair day! Did you know there’s a place in Thunder Bay that repairs architectural stained glass?

Removed this window from a client’s front door today. The wind caught the door causing it to slam which shook the glass loose and broke some of the lead channels.

Step one is removing the border metal and all the old silicone. None of the glass needs to be repaired so it’s just replacing the damaged channel, applying putty/cement (not silicone) for weather proofing, letting that dry then it’s back to be reinstalled.
