An exceptionally rare trompe-l’œil ceramic stool by D. Sarti, sculpted entirely in glazed ceramic to resemble a sumptuous stack of tasseled, upholstered cushions.

Remarkably detailed and wonderfully theatrical, it blurs the line between functional furniture and decorative sculpture. A truly unusual example of late 20th-century Postmodern design.

A study in scale, form and quiet drama. Our hand-painted porcelain crane pot, with its rich earthy brown decoration against a softly glazed ivory ground, filled here with loose Queen Anne’s lace.

Beautifully sculptural on its own, but even better overflowing with something a little wild.

Four original works by Peter Robert Keil (b. 1942) — the German painter and sculptor known for his bold, expressive portraits and spontaneous line work.

Raised in postwar Berlin, Keil studied at the University of Arts in Berlin and was mentored early on by painter Otto Nagel. His work was deeply influenced by Picasso and German Expressionism, while his years spent between Paris, Mallorca and Berlin brought him into the orbit of some of the 20th century’s most important artists, including Joan Miró, whom he visited at his Mallorca studio.

These four portraits perfectly capture the wonderfully loose, unmistakable hand that came to define Keil’s work.
