Fresh from France and newly arrived in the studio — a collection of expressive 1940s–1950s paintings that capture the energy, experimentation, and optimism of postwar European art.

From bold modernist compositions to sun-drenched figurative scenes, each work offers a glimpse into a transformative period when French artists embraced color, movement, and abstraction with renewed confidence.

A rare 19th-century French painted tapestry depicting a romantic pastoral scene rich with movement, colour, and storytelling.

Created as a more accessible alternative to labor-intensive tapestry production, painted examples like this were often commissioned to achieve the grandeur of historic wall hangings at a fraction of the time and cost. Today, surviving examples are exceptionally scarce, prized for their folk-art charm, decorative scale, and unique glimpse into a lesser-known chapter of French textile history.

A welcome return to the studio: our favourite handwoven wicker trays with leather handles. Thoughtfully crafted and quietly elegant, they embody the kind of timeless utility we are always drawn to—pieces that feel equally at home in a refined interior as they do in everyday use.

Available in two sizes.

One of the pieces we couldn’t leave behind — a beautifully timeworn circular oil painting depicting a romantic coastal ruin, its weathered archway overlooking a tranquil waterfront beyond. The muted palette, soft atmospheric light, and centuries of patina tell the story only age can create.

It’s exactly the sort of piece we are always searching for: quietly elegant, richly layered, and impossible to replicate.

This is just one of many objects that made the journey home with us. Over the coming weeks we’ll be unpacking a remarkable collection of antiques, artwork, ceramics, garden pieces, and decorative objects sourced throughout Italy.

A monumental expressionist portrait by Peter Robert Keil — unapologetically bold, emotionally charged, and impossible to ignore.

With his unmistakable graphic linework and saturated palette, Keil captures the raw spontaneity that made him one of the most recognizable postwar European artists of the twentieth century. The scale alone gives this piece incredible architectural presence, transforming the room as much as the artwork itself.

Arriving tomorrow — a complete suite of eighteen lithographs from Jean Lurçat’s celebrated Géographie Animale portfolio, originally published in France in 1948.

One of the most visually arresting postwar graphic series we’ve sourced, these fantastical creatures blur the line between mythology, symbolism, and decoration — rendered in Lurçat’s unmistakable language of bold colour, surreal form, and rhythmic linework.

A rare opportunity to acquire one of the most important illustrated portfolios of the postwar period.

Available in studio & online tomorrow.

A landscape imagined somewhere between memory and dream. Layers of verdant foliage unfold against an endless horizon — richly atmospheric, deeply transportive, and quietly cinematic. Paired here with hand-painted Spanish pottery
