Ever tried ekiben?

These are special bento boxes you can find at train stations across Japan, each one filled with local flavors from the region. This book, Ekiben: The Ultimate Japanese Travel Food, is a deep dive into that culture.

It’s part food, part travel, and full of beautiful details that make you feel like you’re exploring Japan by train.

A great pick if you love Japanese food or miss traveling in Japan.

This hanten from Kurume Japan is one of those pieces you’ll keep reaching for. Lightly padded, breathable, and comfortable from morning to night. Perfect for this season when it’s still a bit chilly in the mornings and evenings.

Slightly shorter sleeves and deep front pockets make it easy to wear casually and practically throughout the day.

If you’ve never tried a hanten, this is a good place to start.

Using this ninja-themed tenugui as a table centerpiece.🥷🍽️

Tenugui are traditional Japanese cotton cloths, once used in everyday life for wiping, wrapping, and more. Today, they bring a quiet charm to modern living, whether as a scarf, gift wrap, or decorative accent. The more you use them, the softer and more personal they become.

Hand brooms have long been part of everyday life in Japan, used to tidy tatami corners, sewing tables, and sweep up after cooking. This broom is crafted from natural palm fiber with a Hinoki wood handle by a small workshop that continues traditional material craftsmanship.

The wooden dustpan is just as thoughtfully made. Though it is made from wood, it is thin and flexible, allowing it to bend slightly so it sits close to the surface and makes it easy to scoop up dust and crumbs. Together they offer a simple, satisfying way to handle small messes as they happen.

They are listed on separate product pages, so if you are thinking of adding one to your routine, do not forget to take a look at the other too. Perfect for desks, counters, shelves, or creative spaces.

[[ A little personal update from us 💛 ]]

Hi friends! It’s Mami. We’ve been a bit quiet on Instagram lately because I’ve been very busy with a big move. After 12 wonderful years in Canada, I’ve moved back to Japan 🇯🇵

I won’t be able to join our pop-up events as often anymore, but nothing is changing when it comes to Nagamochi Shop. I’ll still be here on Instagram sharing my life and things in Japan and, of course, searching for beautiful finds to bring to the shop together with Meg, just like before.

Thank you so much for always supporting our small shop. I’m so excited for this new chapter and can’t wait to share more treasures from Japan with you ✨

So stay tuned ✌️🫶

A simple tea scoop with a lightly hammered finish. Thin and precise, it is easy to use for scooping loose tea leaves.

2️⃣Stainless Steel Mini Oil Strainer Pot by Yoshikawa
A compact oil pot with a built in strainer that removes residue after cooking, making oil reuse simple and clean.

Both pieces are made in traditional factories in Tsubame, where stainless steel craftsmanship continues to support everyday life.
