We’re especially looking for someone with experience working with children outdoors and a strong understanding of Forest School philosophy and child-led learning.

The ideal candidate is comfortable following children’s interests, supporting emergent curriculum, and creating thoughtful learning invitations and provocations rather than relying on traditional teacher-led programming.

Experience in Forest & Nature School, outdoor education, Reggio Emilia, Montessori, Waldorf, ECE, Child & Youth Care, or other child-centred/inquiry-based approaches is an asset.

Applicants should have (or be willing to obtain) First Aid/CPR and a Vulnerable Sector Check and be comfortable spending full days outdoors in all seasons.

Interested? Please send your resume and a brief introduction about your experience working with children outdoors to [email protected].

🌿 Natural Materials Wanted for Our Forest School! 🌿
We’re looking to grow our collection of natural, open-ended materials at Nurture the Nature Forest School!
We love giving new life to items that may otherwise be sitting unused in a basement, garage, shed or cupboard. These materials help us create invitations for building, creating, experimenting, imaginative play and child-led learning in the forest.
We would love donations of:
🧺 Wicker or wooden baskets
🪵 Wooden cable spools
📦 Wooden crates, boxes & trays
🪚 Untreated wood offcuts, boards & wood rounds
🥣 Wooden bowls & cutting boards
🥄 Wooden spoons & rolling pins
🪣 Metal buckets & pails
🍳 Stainless-steel pots, pans, bowls & kitchen utensils
🫖 Enamelware, kettles & metal pitchers
⚖️ Old-fashioned kitchen scales
🧵 Natural rope, twine, burlap & canvas
🧶 Wool, yarn, felt & natural fabric scraps
🖼️ Wooden frames & embroidery hoops
🍾 Corks, wooden beads & buttons
🌱 Gardening baskets & tools
🔎 Magnifying glasses
🧱 Wooden blocks & other open-ended wooden materials
We’re especially looking for durable materials made from wood, wicker, metal, cotton, wool and other natural fibres, as we’re working toward reducing the amount of plastic in our learning environment.
The more open-ended, the better! A basket, wooden spool or old pot can become something completely different depending on where the children’s imaginations take them. 💚
If you have something that isn’t on the list but you think could be useful, please feel free to send us a photo!
For safety, we unfortunately can’t accept pressure-treated/chemically treated wood, rusty or sharp metal, broken wicker, cracked glass, or items that previously held unknown chemicals.
♻️ Before throwing it away or sending it to the thrift store, consider sending it to us! 🌲
Thank you for helping us create a beautiful, sustainable and imaginative learning environment for our students. 🌿

🌿 Registration for the 2026–2027 Forest School year is now open! 🌿

What if your child doesn't need to become more confident, more curious, or more capable?

What if those qualities are already within them, simply waiting for the right environment to flourish?

At Nurture the Nature Forest School, we believe children are naturally capable, creative, resilient, and full of potential. Our role isn't to shape who they become, it's to create the time, trust, and space for them to discover more of who they already are.

Here, childhood isn't rushed. Learning isn't one-size-fits-all. We follow children's interests, embrace the changing seasons, and spend our days immersed in nature, building shelters, learning survival skills, identifying plants, creating, exploring, solving problems, taking healthy risks, and discovering together through real-life experiences.

We believe children thrive when they are trusted, given meaningful responsibility, and surrounded by adults who truly believe in them.

If you're looking for a learning community that honours childhood, nurtures a deep connection with nature, and sees the incredible potential already within your child, we'd love to welcome your family.
