Coming up next week, Short Row Savvy with Kate Atherley!

Join us in store to wrap your mind around the "wrap and turn" as well as the yarn over method, Japanese, German, and Shadow short rows. This class is a great one, especially for those looking to add a bit more customization to their projects or to simply get a handle on why you would turn around in the middle of your work in the first place!

Have you had a chance to visit Waxwing Cèdre in the shop yet?

This is a 100 Canadian wool, handdyed by Waxwing in either 100 gram skeins or 25 gram skeins, making the yarn perfect for colourwork projects.

Use it on it's own for fi*****ng weight gauge, or double it up for a worsted/aran gauge. We'd love to see a marled project with this yarn.

We are very very excited to be working with Waxwing. Stay tuned to see photos of our first project: a pair of colourwork mittens.

Today Yarns Untangled turns ELEVEN years old!

Celebrating eleven years in business is a bit of a funny one. Last year we made a big fuss about ten because, well TEN! But this year it feels more like "ok great, yes, eleven is very nice, but let's keep going though because winter is coming and yarn along with it!"

So today just a small note to say thank you ever so to each and every one of you who has showed up for us in whatever way they could. It's an honour (truly it is) to bring you beautiful things and to support you along your crafting journeys.

Here's to eleven! Work a few rows for us tonight :)

🚨🧶New yarn alert! 🧶🚨

New to us from , this is Nomade BFL, a fi*****ng weight blend of Bluefaced Leicester and nylon that is perfect for garments, accessories and socks alike.

If you aren't familiar with BFL, it's a very special breed of British sheep originating in the northeast of English. The wool makes a springy, luxurious yarn that adds some natural depth to the colour of the dye.

It makes a very beautiful, very strong sock yarn especially with the added nylon, but we're eyeing this one up for some winter sweaters. While it is superwash, the gentle grippy-ness of the BFL makes this a strong option for colourwork as well.

Cables are a versatile way to level up your knitting, and are featured in a wide variety of knitting styles. In this class, you will learn the knitter's dirtiest secret - cables are easy! We'll address not only how to work cables, but also how to read charts and patterns, and we'll share expert tips on how to manage the knitting of a complex cable design.

This is a great class for any late beginner knitter who is looking to explore interesting techniques. Kate is the ideal teacher to guide you into your next awesome pattern.

This evening's teaser is Mokosh from Hey Mama Wolf
Mokosh is a real staff favourite, it seems to tick everyone's boxes at YU. It's a 21-micron count (real soft, y'all) GOTS-certified organic merino from a breed local to the south of France. The crimp of the fleece traps a lot of air giving tons of warmth, while the fluffy and soft nature of the wool means this is the softest merino on the market.

It's usual retail price is $34 per skein but starting tomorrow it will be 30% off!

This super soft, chainette wool/nylon blend feels unreal. It's so lightweight, it can feel like you're not really holding anything while you work with it, but the fabric it makes is warm, even, and classic. Since it's made up of mostly air, the metreage is exceptional at 185 metres for 25g.
